Who knows what will happen because this case is a bit unusual.

I have heard that his case will be heard late tomorrow and a decision by Friday.

Dave Baker said the entire appeal will take about an hour. That includes Kanter's personal appeal, the University's part, & the NCAA. Not sure if Dave gave a date for it, but KSR is reporting it will possibly be Thursday with a decision to come by Friday or early next week.

Eligible in time for UNC?? :ylsuper:

Whether he is ruled eligible or ineligible I just hope they get it right and once it's over I hope they make a clear statement regarding this for the future as well, too many cases are far worse than this but are not punished as severe and vice versa. The NCAA needs to get it right and take a step forward instead of taking two steps back.

This is what I was told over the weekend as well that today, Wednesday, was supposed to be the day. Kanter, his parents, and Sandy Bell will have a teleconference with the appeals committee, and a decision could be made quickly or it could take a few days, but at the latest early next week.

Also, once a decision is made UK will be notified, it will be up to UK to release what the decision is. If for some reason Kanter is ruled eligible immediately, would you as UK release it right away? Or wait until you hand the lineup in for the UNC game? I wouldn't worry if we don't hear anything immediately, but at this point it's hard to say what the NCAA or the appeals committee will ever do on any case.

Amazing. The NCAA took weeks to reach a decision and the appeals committee will hear the case in an hour and make a decision in a few days.

Not really...The appeal process should be much quicker as all the facts are already set in stone.

What are the chances that the appeal goes in favor of Kanter?

What are the chances that the appeal goes in favor of Kanter?

I am going with 25%

The kid from IU was just denied by the appeals cmte. Not sure how closely similar the two situations are, but I do think they resemble one another.

He also started college in 2006 in France. I don't care if his HS and college in France had the same name, he didn't even know if he was in HS or college? Because of that the IU compliance dept had a difficult time trying to find out if he was enrolled in college in France? Sounds like they could have got him for lying to them as well possibly? Why was it difficult to find out if this guy was ever enrolled in college 4 years ago in France? Sounds pretty simple to me.

He enrolled in college in 2006, but then in 2007 he signed a contract with the club team's under 21 feeder team. My question is, how old was this guy when he signed the contract in 2007? If he was 18 or older that could be a big issue with the NCAA. Enes was only 16 two years ago, thus making him too young to sign a contract as by FIBA rules.

Has anyone here heard Kanter in any kind of interviews? I would imagine his ability to communicate in English could play a factor in all this in the back of members minds. If the guy can barely speak English it hurts his chances because how could he make it a university class.

Of course this was an interview after his NIKE Hoop Summit game back in April. Not sure if he has ever had a ton of cameras in his face and all before this, as I am sure the first few times at least are a bit difficult.

The IU player was moved up to the pro team during his third year with the club, so he may have been 19 at the time? Kanter was moved up for 4 games while he was still 16.
