Kudos to the JC folks. I enjoyed their music selection and how they tied it to situations. Well done.

I don't know, the Rocky music got old fast.

Not too sure....Looks kinda old.

It is impressive if you're a HHS or CCH fan.

Actually HHS's sound system is the same exact one use at Paul Brown Stadium. It's just the speakers are a little undersized and misplaced!!! Probably a good thing....

Can you imagine the post-TD song turned up really loud.....

Yeah, where can a fella get a jacket like that?

Not real sure....Maybe Steinmart!!!

Took the pic at the Dixie/HHS game this year thinking it would be a good pic to use.....:thumb:

We need an auxilliary speaker over on our side. They tried pointing one over our way, but (when it works) the sound still doesn't quite make the trip.
At halftime. It was pretty funny. Good ole folk right there.

Oh yes it was....I pulled up in the lot and there was a certain "twang" in the air. It was a great atmosphere! Fun game to be at....Particularly because the Birds won!!

What about the Deliverance theme??? lol

Is that Michael Phelps in the picture?

HHS D needed to look at any drive over 10 plays for JC as a victory (whether JC scored or not). As it turned out, both of JC's 1st 2 drives were over 10 plays, long, time-consuming and ended up with measurements on 4th down that were short. Lots of investment with no return beyond field position change.

1st and 3rd TOs by JC were critical. Even if you don't have the correct personnel for the XP after the fumble return, take the 5 yd. delay of game penalty and then kick the XP as normal. The 3rd TO was called on a 1st & 10 immediately after the ball was set ready (meaning they had a full 25 seconds for a 1st down play). Unless his kids were totally gassed, not a good TO.

JC moved the ball and got in position but were unable to close the deal.

Watched this one on IHigh since we (Raceland) got knocked out last week.

Terrible clock management by JC cost them any chance of a tie or win at the end. Highland's QB made a big difference though when he was in (Towles I think?). The way he runs the offense made a difference in my opinion, not to mention he still ran well even with a heavily taped ankle.

In the end, Highlands is still Highlands, & tradition will find a way to win in adverse situations.

I remember having to play Highlands in the early 80's when I played at Russell. Always tough to play those guys!

Good luck to Highlands next week.

As LN has said many times before, in the "grind it out" 1 dimensional offense, any penalties (there were VERY few), turnovers (none) or negative or no gain plays (enough) create difficult down and distance situations (3rd & 5 or more). Failing to convert 1 of these turns the ball over.

On the missed 3rd down pass at the end, it appeared the ref was waiving incomplete that the receiver was OB even if he had held onto it. I was very far away, so I'm not sure about that -- just reading the body language of the ref.Games like Ryle 2010, St. X 2009, Bryan Station 2008 and 5 playoff games per year for the past 3 yrs. showed in the last 2 drives. HHS did what was needed (even on 4th down) and got the TD when they had to have it. JC moved the ball and got in position but were unable to close the deal.

Not at all. I was on the pressbox and he was well within bounds. If the reciever catches the bait is a touchdown with the PAT or 2 point conversion attempt (What Matney would have went for) pending.

I remember those games well. Russell had a couple of very good teams back then....:thumb:

If HHS guy the play before holds on, game over anyway. As someone said earlier, a wash.

Trying to read a thread about the game and its like finding a needle in the haystack between all the senseless highland toot our own horn talk. Geeze, this comes from someone who respects your program.

The game was Friday. The game talk is done. All that's left now in the popcorn bowl is the old maids that didn't pop.
