Where were you sitting because we complained about that a lot. He didn't discriminate though; sometimes they did it when Ryle was on offense.

 

I can assure you that the players did not hear this. If they did then they are not focused. Sounds like it bother the grumps in the stands more then the kids. Non factor in the game imo.

A blown call on the Elliott fumble hurt the Birds also. Towles lost the handle just inches from punching it in for the 2pt conversion to tie this game up. There is no way you can sell me that Ryle is the #1 team in NKY. Seriously?

I wouldn't count Highlands out based on tonight's game. IMO if Ryle plays the way they did tonight, you may see the Raiders in Bowling Green.

Great game tonight. Cold as ice though! Ryle had momentum on their side from the moment our 1st 2 point conversion failed. Those boys were fired up for sure! We all knew it would end some time; better now than in the playoffs. Got the monkey off our backs now; let's go get 20n10. Congratulations to Ryle! You've earned much respect from the Bluebird nation. Now go out and bring a 6A title home to NKY!

Congrats to both teams on a great game. What an awesome game to watch. Tons of great plays and some of the best players in the area did their thing. The catch by Lonkard is one of the best catches I have ever seen. That ball was past him and he jumped after it to just get his fingers on the ball enough to tap it back to himself and pull it in as he was falling to the ground. Incredible play. Hempel, Towles, Elliott, Gold, Sevinsky, Seidl, Mace ... these guys are players. When I think back on this game in years to come, I think the image that will come to mind is what I will call the Ryle Pile. Those short yardage plays where it looked like a rugby scrum more than a football play as Ryle moved the whole pile of players to get that one yard they needed. That epitomizes this game and the battle it was all night. Coach Warner and his staff definitely put together the game plan for victory and the Ryle players executed it. Straight ahead, power football. No one is going to turn the corner on Highlands defense. Too much speed and pursuit. Start running sideways and you are done. Ryle went with the straight ahead, quick hitting run plays that helped negate Highlands' speed. A lot of those plays went for nothing. But you keep doing it and then you hit that crease and you have a big play. Power football. Elliott plowing through people. Mullins' quick feet jumping through holes that were more like slivers of openings. And Hempel flanked by his two power backs muscling for extra yards. Ryle controlled the clock and kept the Highlands offense on the sideline. And just when it looked like Ryle had the game in hand, Highlands and Towles showed us why that game plan was so important. The Birds can put points up in a hurry. The Birds were not going to let the streak end without showing us why they had won 37 in a row. When they scored that last TD, I thought for sure Highlands would get the 2 points. Then when Ryle had the ball on their last possession, two times I thought Highlands had them stopped but the Raiders were able to fight for those last couple of inches to keep the ball and keep Highlands offense on the sideline watching. Just an incredible game. I may plug in the tape and watch it again tomorrow.

After a brilliant opening KO return by Gold and the return team, HHS misses PAT, kicks a strange short kick-off and commits PF. Suddenly, the quick 6-0 lead is in doubt. Too many times in the first half Ryle had either 1st and 5 or 2nd and 3. Overall Ryle's physical play bullied HHS. This was a great game. Congrates to the Raiders for great all-around smart and dominant play. The Birds showed lots of heart as they refused to be blown-out and mounted a super come-back. Ryle will compete fiercely against there 6A playoff opponents. HHS has to play smarter, a rare condition for them; and they need to be much more sure handed about catching passes. Hopefully, both teams will see their injuries heal soon, enabling them both a shot at state titles.

New Cath is #1 in the state. Highlands is #1 and despite tonight's loss I don't see them losing another one. I have to believe one or both of them will be in Bowling Green.
