Couldn't the guy have said I'm not going up there the wind is to bad? Someone had him go up there but he could have refused. If my boss tells me to jump out in the middle of I-75 during rush hour I'm not going to do it no matter what.

 

I work in environmental health and safety. And everyday I/we go to work I put myself in situations where if I/we don't follow necessary guidelines my life could be at stake. Ultimately, I have the final say so. But, it shouldn't come down to me cause I know if I say "no" too many times, I'm not going to have a job at some point. Common sense would come in to play at some point, I would hope. Unfortunately, here it did not.

If I tell someone under my direction and authority that they need to walk across I-75 at midnight and they know if they don't do it they might lose their job, do I bear any responsibility if they get hit by a car and killed?

 

Yes it was an accident, but one that was easily foreseeable and preventable.

The whole thing I find incredible in all of this is that with all of the adults there, not one single person didn't see that kid up there and fear for his safety. That is simply common sense.

I know and have heard that Brian Kelly is a tough guy to work for and that he is very demanding, but this is crazy.

 

The kids tweets he sent prior to falling if admissible in court, I would think will hurt the family's cause in a lawsuit against the school. He obviously knew of the inherent danger he was in, and being an adult could have made the decision to come down.

 

Lastly, did I hear it right that they continued to practice even after the lift fell? How callous if true.
