Hopefully this type of thing, ends the ridicule that U of L fan gets when they have less than capacity for a home game.

What does Cobb expect? They start out 0-3 in the SEC and goes down 28-10 at the half, what are fans supposed to do? Bake him an apple pie and tell everyone to keep up the swell job. I don't get these pampered athletes these days. Have they never been able to handle criticism or adversity?

So it is ok for supposed fans to talk about these kids like dogs. To insult them, theirs teammates, their coaches, their program, to cuss them and yell dispariging remarks at them, but it not ok for him to fire back. I don't think he handled this properly. But I also don't think a certain percentage of the fan base handles themselves properly.

I don't have a problem with people being critical, especially of the coaching staff. They get paid to do a job. But no student athlete should have to endure what Mike Hartline and some other players over the years have had to endure. I wish Joker had pulled a Mike Gundy and called people out for treating his players the way they do instead of Cobb.

Criticism and adversity comes with the sport. This is the world that we live in one minute you the hero the next your the Villain

This is so true...and I am guilty. At halftime, I was thinking that UK had hired another Kragthorpe with Joker.

What exactly was the Red Lobster incident?

He went to Red Lobster one night and had on UK gear and the hostess obviously didn't know who he was and asked him when did he think the football team would start stinking again. I think they were still undefeated at the time. He blew that situation up on twitter and just recently ended his Red Lobster boycott because he wanted some cheddar biscuits.

They won the game why bring this up after a win over a ranked team? He shouldn't have said anything! He thinks it was bad up until now? Just wait until they are in the same situation, because of his comments he will be hearing a lot more now. I agree about the being able to handle criticism or adversity issues, does he expect to play in the NFL? If he can't handle it in college, he won't last long in the NFL.

I can't blame Cobb for what he said, the young man told the truth.

Some may not want to hear it, including Cobb but the fact is that basketball always has been, is now and always wil be king at U.K.. and that is another reason why I have said over and over that U.K. wil never be a top level SEC football team, middle of the pack at best. I will still be a fan and support U.K. football now and in the future but if anyone thinks that football will be followed and thought of in the same regard that basketball is at U.K. is in a dream world and/or should be regularly tested for heavy drug use :sssh::lol:

Florida won back to back national titles in basketball and still and always will play 2nd to football there. This would be the same at U.K. should football ever win big. Heck, Bear Bryant won a national title at U.K. and was still waaaaay below Rupp and the basketball program. Bryant realized that and was a smart enough football man to get out and the rest of what Bryant could and did to is history.

Now I will say that there are still a number of "those" fans that boo, gripe and complain over anything, everything or anyone that is connected with U.K. basketball and that will never change either.

Bottom line is Cobb told the truth. Should he have.......will be seen but I don't think it will change anything.

Bet he has quality seats for the bball home opener.

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::popcorn::popcorn:

So does one of the best to ever play here now become a whipping post?

Seems like Cobb is finally starting to get the national respect his play deserves....On the latest ESPN Heisman thing that allows you to rank the candidates in order, he is one of the 13 guys to decide from.

No, not as far as I a concerned anyway.

Hey, you are the best player for a perinneal SEC middle of the back or cellar dwellar. Kentucky has potential to try and move up in the SEC, but fan support definately is needed. Top recruits can play anywhere, why would they want to go to a school that boos them and only looks at them as a filler between UK basketball season and recruiting time. The statement probably needs to be made by the coach and perhaps Joker should address this but its a valid point. Cobb's play has spoken this season and hopefully the team continues to improve. The defense especially needs to pick up play if they want fan support.

UK's capacity is listed at 67,606

So basically UK averages a sell out?

Not sure what Cobb can complain about

The lackadaisical manner in which UK fans act toward their football team is Cobb's contention, not whether they show up or not. He's talking more about the late-arriving crowd who often checks out in the third quarter in order to get back to tailgating.
