Cobb rips UK fans

I'm just curious what you like about sports? What gets you going about it? Why do you watch it?

What do you like about sports?

That's a pretty involved question that is perhaps better served in its own thread.

I think Cobb said what so many players/coaches/admin and true fans have wanted to say to so called "True Fans"

It's a 2 way street. Don't play like garbage if you want fans around all the time. I understand his frustration too. Doesn't effect me. He's one of my all time favorites. When they get him the ball they win!

Cobb was just playing the role of Captain Obvious. He should have still kept his mouth shut. One's girlfriend may look fat in a certain pair of jeans, but you don't call her out on it.

So it is ok for supposed fans to talk about these kids like dogs. To insult them, theirs teammates, their coaches, their program, to cuss them and yell dispariging remarks at them, but it not ok for him to fire back. I don't think he handled this properly. But I also don't think a certain percentage of the fan base handles themselves properly.

I don't have a problem with people being critical, especially of the coaching staff. They get paid to do a job. But no student athlete should have to endure what Mike Hartline and some other players over the years have had to endure. I wish Joker had pulled a Mike Gundy and called people out for treating his players the way they do instead of Cobb.

These are not kids. These are men being paid to play a sport through a free education. They have a fan base that spends millions of dollars a year that will critique play.

I couldn't agree more. People are way to ultrasensitive these days, in every aspect of life.

It has been my experience, the people with the loudest mouths (the woman who sits behind me) are those who don't know anything about the game. Real fans don't boo their own team, which is what happened last week.

There is a huge difference between "critique" and what some of these guys have to put up with. If you read my post i said I have no problem with being critical, it's the idiots who call themselves fans and do nothing but bash these young men that I have an issue with. It's uncalled for.

Not ultrasensitive at all. I am however sensitive to the ultra rude people out there who think it's ok to cast dispersions that they couldn't hold up to. You know the people who have no talent and think they know more about the game than the coaches and the players. No matter how much some people like to think, every thing is not acceptable.

Bottom line: When you start out the SEC 0-3 and fall to USC 28-10 in the first half, you'd better be prepared to hear some pretty bad stuff. If you can't handle it, maybe it's time to find a new hobby.
