October 20, 201015 yr The lackadaisical manner in which UK fans act toward their football team is Cobb's contention, not whether they show up or not. He's talking more about the late-arriving crowd who often checks out in the third quarter in order to get back to tailgating. The game is often over by the third quarter. Either they are playing terrible teams or Florida and Bama are beating up on them. If it's a game, the place is packed and into the game. If it's a blowout, its not that way. Pretty simple concept. Happens pretty much everywhere, in every sport.

Just a hunch, but I think a lot of fans would stay longer if they were allowed to purchase alcohol there.
October 20, 201015 yr Just a hunch, but I think a lot of fans would stay longer if they were allowed to purchase alcohol there. They can't make it through a game without a drink? Sounds like some alcholics to me. If they were allowed to drink the whole game, the players would really hear some things then.

Let's just admit the obvious here: UK fans are ambivalent about football. They may as well end the charade that UK is a big-time football program and drop into C-USA like they are in soccer.

While I agree with Cobb's statement if he hasn't accepted that he is at a basketball school(and not just any basketball school for that matter) then I don't know what to tell him. When football games are scheduled around Keeneland's schedule and you aren't even recognized by a UK football fan/hostess at your favorite local restaurant.....well......what does that tell you? Football is just something to do until October 15 for a majority of UK football fans. Harsh but true.

It's not like the exact same stuff doesn't go on in Rupp. Especially with all the old season ticket holders. It's a terrible place to watch a game. It takes like a 20-0 run for there to be noise.

Games have been scheduled around Keeneland on multiple occasions since at least the time when I was a student at UK. They changed the time of the Homecoming game when I was a student to accommodate Keeneland.
October 21, 201015 yr Games have been scheduled around Keeneland on multiple occasions since at least the time when I was a student at UK. They changed the time of the Homecoming game when I was a student to accommodate Keeneland. And there have been plenty of games played during Keeneland that I can remember. Like I said, UK has no control over when they play. TV does. TV is just smart enough not to make them play during Keeneland the majority of the time.
October 21, 201015 yr What do you "like" about sports Jim Schue? Not sure what you're getting at here ...
October 21, 201015 yr He's a teenager. He made a mistake letting his emotions get the best of him. Sounds like he is was upset fans started leaving early because they did not think the CATS would come back. He also seems tired of the football team taking a back seat to the bb team. I am happy he is passionate about this football team. He apologized that is the end of it. You without sin cast the first football.
October 21, 201015 yr Not sure what you're getting at here ... I'm just curious what you like about sports? What gets you going about it? Why do you watch it? What do you like about sports?
October 21, 201015 yr So it is ok for supposed fans to talk about these kids like dogs. To insult them, theirs teammates, their coaches, their program, to cuss them and yell dispariging remarks at them, but it not ok for him to fire back. I don't think he handled this properly. But I also don't think a certain percentage of the fan base handles themselves properly. I don't have a problem with people being critical, especially of the coaching staff. They get paid to do a job. But no student athlete should have to endure what Mike Hartline and some other players over the years have had to endure. I wish Joker had pulled a Mike Gundy and called people out for treating his players the way they do instead of Cobb. If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. I don't recall people ever bashing Cobb. I don't know why he was crying. As for Harline, it could have been much worse.
