Lots of school districts are going to a 60 mile rule for all sports. I know my district has it and I have to be factor that in when scheduling. Is it important enough game to ask my boosters to pay $100-$200 or more to drive a bus there.

 

Meaning you either CANNOT schedule a game beyond 60 miles or your boosters have to pay for each mile beyond the 60 miles. Not sure of the cost per mile but I believe it is over a dollar a mile.

 

Probably not real practical in the more isolated areas of the state. Much easier when you're within 60 miles of Lexington, NKY/Cincinnati, Louisville, etc.

Trinity will likely be struggling to fill the schedule with teams within an hour's drive with the new alignment. Louisville publics won't play us unless they have to, with a handful of exceptions, and with 2 games we used to fill out our non-district schedule now district games we will likely have a brutal schedule. Out of state teams may be our only option. I want a game with HHS now more than ever simply because it would be a good team closer than Indy, Nashville or Cinci.

Johnson central....lots of teams over near ashland...plenty of local teams around you...just look for local high schools and convince them to play...You are supposed to be an up and coming program...CHALLENGE highlands don't RUN from them

 

Perry Central...why not play Hazard instead of or in addition to knott county...Hazard is in your county!!! Don't throw three other teams under the Bus (NL, SL, Whitley). Why DOUBLE their travel time (3 schools) when you could play in your county? You can make a schedule...heck, you have a guaranteed playoff birth!!! Scared of the local teams?

 

Simon Kenton...you are supposed to be an "elite" public school program...lexington is not that far (.05 miles less...seriously?) That is about as petty as it gets. And to throw two other teams under the bus? Why force a struggling Ohio County team (1 win, 3 years!?!~?!~?!) to play even BETTER competition so YOU can be happy....

 

 

Bell County....since when is where you play play in the semifinals a problem with scheduling haha... YOU ARE IN THE SEMI FINALS!~!!!!!...Your district is a mountain district and you are in it with Corbin....Seems you'd be chomping at the bit instead of looking at the semifinal game....seriously?

 

What ever happened to just playing whats in front of you....anyone can make a a shedule...sure it may not be easy games, but when you are a GOOD program you should play the GOOD teams.

I'll tell you what since you know it all maybe you can find some of the numerous teams " over near Ashland" that Johnson Central can put on their schedule. How can anybody in their right mind question Johnson Central's schedule? For the past two years we've had Bell,Boyle,Breathitt,Belfry,Knox, and Sheldon Clark on our non district schedule so how in the word could you lump Johnson Central in on your rant? Who should Johnson Central play that's "over near Ashland" and who are the local teams what we could convince to play? I'm just going to throw out some teams that Johnson Central has tried to include in on their schedule for the past four years. Letcher Central, Clay County, North and South Laurel, Pike Central, Perry Central, Prestonsburg, Lawrence County, Greenup, Rowan and Russell. All said no. They've practically begged Letcher Central,Lawrence County,and Prestonsburg to play and theyl said no. What makes you an expert on filling teams schedules out anyway?

 

Another inaccuracy you've posted is about Perry Central. Almost everybody that lives in this area knows that Hazard won't play Perry Central for some reason. Perry Central was correct in there proposal in my opinion. Why have a six team district and on the other side of the region have a four team district? Both of the Laurels is closer to PCC's district than Whitley is. North Laurel is in this district now so I wonder why they're getting moved?This district seems to be hand picked to ensure that Letcher will always have a playoff birth.

 

Maybe you should do a little research before you start calling out other teams. I'm not up to date on the issues with the other schools that you included in your rant so I'm going to keep my peace.Nothing looks worse than giving your opinions on subjects that you know nothing about.

I'm with Czar, JC couldn't be asked to put together a harder non-district schedule. JC's enrollment numbers clearly put's them in 5A. I for one hope the KHSAA puts us where we belong in 5A, and we schedule Boyle, Bell, Belfry, and Highland as non-district opponents. I would also like to see us put Paintsville back on the schedule for the Apple Bowl. I'm sure someone would gripe that would be too easy of a schedule though.

But you don't hear Paducah Tilghman,Ft. Campbell, Etown, Central, etc. complaining about having to drive all the way to "the mountains".

You are so right. Having lots of local schools around you and convincing them to play you are two very different things. I don't doubt a word of what you posted here, it is tough for the better football schools to get competitive games in EKY.

I believe that you are supposed to count all students within your school system. With that said it looks to me like JC was trying to move down away from Highlands (thus possibly giving an inaccurate count) now all of a sudden counting these kids will help them. Lots of school on the borderline of student classifications, finds ways to use "fuzzy math". Maybe it burnt them this time!
