How was this season any different than the typical Rich Brooks era team?

 

The overall quality of SEC opponets for this years team is what has everyone so upset. This should have been the year for UK to get into a bigger and better bowl, not because they were better than the normal Brooks era teams (they were worse IMO) but because the SEC was not as brutal as usual. That is just my 2 cents though.

I think Simpson has been moved to D and will be surprised if Newton is QB.

Simpson has a lot of work to do to get playing time next year.

Because the chances of their SEC foes collectively being this weak will not happen anytime soon.

 

Particularly the eastern division. I don't think the west ended up being anything close to weak. But, we got the two worst teams in that division and Auburn, so even that part of the schedule was as favorable as you could hope for.

 

Six wins is what I expected...I went with 7 when you forced us to go over or under. Even though the rest of the SEC was supposed to be down, I felt like this UK team wouldn't be quite as good as the previous seasons.

 

Anyway, I like making bowl games. I think it's good for the program.

I would disagree that people loved Rich Brooks.

 

I wouldn't, many UK football fans that I know of thought the world of Brooks.

That's my point, people loved Rich Brooks but Joker's tenure is going to be short for having the same results. I don't get it.

 

I think people knew what you were getting with Brooks. Most always assumed there was a ceiling to his coaching tenure. He brought the program from 2-9's to 7-5's, but that was always going to be the high level. Many thought the Joker was younger, smarter, more energetic, more daring, etc. and putting all that together would equal a couple extra wins each season. It might well do that eventually, but right now it's more of the same.

I just read about Simpson being moved to safety he is a hard hitter so that might be a good move.
