Highlands in a rout....

I hate to say it, but after having seen Dixie (which beat Beechwood) and Ryle (which lost to HHS) play, this game should not be played. IMO Ryle would easily handle Dixie so logic would say HHS will cruise over Beechwood.

No, it was this year's junior class that beat Highilands at Highlands for the freshman championship. Many of those juniors are starting this year and IMO they are a year away from being competitive with Highlands. Of course, who knows what will happen schedule wise next year so those players may not get the chance to play Highlands when they are seniors.

 

This year's game will be more learning and getting better for Beechwood. It is a young team on the field that will get better every week. Strange things can happen on the football field and I wouldn't say the Tigers have no chance but it isn't much of one. When was the last time Highlands had 5 turnovers in a game? It is on the QB's of Beechwood as to whether this is a game or not. They need to complete 50% or more of their passes for Beechwood to stay in the game. Defense needs to stop the big plays by Highlands and make them work on offense.

 

Till 7:30 on Friday, we Beechwood fans will have our hopes and dreams and will enjoy them. If you don't play the best you can't even have the dream of beating them. I will enjoy seeing the Tigers on the field in Ft. Thomas regardless of what happens. I don't think it will be as much fun as the last time I saw Beechwood on the field at David Cecil stadium (freshman championship) but I will remember that and hope for the best. Beechwood will come prepared, play hard and do it with class. And hope for those five turnovers.

Last years game was right before the St. X game and the HHS coaches didn't want to show their hand in any play calling. I was at the game and was talking to a few of the coaches during half-time and they did not seem to be very concerned of a defeat. Without a St. X type team on the schedule THIS YEAR I think the Birds will blow them out of the water, especially playing a small school that isn't able to use the holy two-platoon system. I will throw out a predicted score of 50-14

 

Bingo about last year. But I don't think Dale will score that many points against Rash. A whole lot of respect between the two. Only way 50 happens is if Highlands JV scores 2 or more tds against Beechwood.

 

On paper I don't think the Tigers have much of a chance in this game, but the games aren't played on paper. Nothing would salve the Tigers wounds like an upset over the Birds. Those Beechwood kids and coaches have a whole lot of pride.

 

Heck, if I was Noel, I'd throw every trick play I know in the offensive playbook and use every off the wall defense I can come up. This is one of those "nothing to lose games" for Beechwood. I don't think they're going to get much benefit trying to run their normal O and D, so why not pull out the gimmick plays: you might just need to run one during the playoffs.

Exactly. Barring injuries, I think this game only helps Beechwood down the line. I don't see them playing with Highlands, but keeping it respectable against a 5A team would be a pretty good reason to hold your head high.

I was a year early on the swim club. Last night at Beechwood the swim club parking lot was full of cars because of the construction and parking situation ...

 

I will get there early but I don't think the crowd for this one will be nearly as big as the Ryle game.

Highlands by whatever they decide is a proper winning margin. Going to be a tough year for Beechwood (at least by their standards).

I think this year's Highlands game will be similar or better than last year's in competitiveness. Most coaches will tell you their biggest leap in progress is usually between game one and game two so hopefully that happens to Beechwood this Friday. This year will be a good one. I feel confident they will make it to the semifinals again against Mayfield and I am positive Beechwood will play much better against Mayfield than they did last year. This team can win a state championship if they keep working hard and keep improving as they get experience.

I disagree, as I posted earlier the coaches did not want to show their hand prior to playing St. X. Less QB runs and the defense was limited. There is not a "St. X" to hold anything back for this year, so I think the disparity with be much more prevelant.

Highlands will absolutely feast on virtually any one dimensionaL team, much less a Class A one. 'Birds will name the score in this one, although I'm not sure why either team would schedule this game??

This game will be the game to work out the timeing of the long ball.
