I said this in another thread, but I'll say it again.

 

Kids pray in school all of the time. They wear crosses and FCA tshirts. They call it Christmas break, not winter break. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't been in a school lately.

I am by no means claiming to be an expert on any of these topics, especially Sharia Law. But, why am I foolish to believe that it could eventually come to America if it is in England?

I only read a few paragraphs, but it won't happen in the United States because the Constitution provides a foundation for the law and, in the USA, church & state are separate. If Muslims bring their own civil courts, it will only apply to them. The criminal law would still apply to everyone regardless of their religious affiliation.

Interesting that they used arbitration as their loophole to the law. Once again, they need their own laws to keep their women suppressed. A very sad religion and belief system. Women are human beings who need to be treated with respect and dignity. They treat them like a piece of trash, and enjoy it. I gotta big problem with that issue.

This country is over 200 years old. Most (not all) public, private and other schools have observed Christmas as a holiday since the beginning. I can't recall any other religious holidays being observed in my public school days (1968 - 1979) (1980 - 1983). I can remember prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance daily up to around the mid 70's. From 1776 to around 1975 most people seemed to be ok with Christmas, pledges and the such. I guess since we are the "melting pot" the viscosity of the brew has gotten so thick we must either observe all religious holidays or observe none. I don't know how to feel about that. Back in the day this country seemed like the coolest place on earth. Is it just as cool now, or am I looking at it wrong?

Most Baptists in particular did not observe Christmas with any celebration or worship until the late 19th and into the 20th century. Some Baptist schools even had class on Christmas day.

I find it interesting in the Christmas debate that people sometimes cite the Founding Fathers but most of Colonial America did not acknowledge the holiday as sacred. I'm convinced the current notions of Christmas in our culture come from the Victorian revivals of Christmas in the mid 19th century.

I think Christmas being celebrated as a religious holiday as are Easter, Good Friday and such is long gone!

 

How many stores say X-mas instead of Christmas?

How many public schools can have a Christmas play about the birth of Christ?

 

In Kenton County there was a tradition of giving the employees Good Friday off until someone complained and now the employees get off the same day but it is called a spring break day.

 

The only reason why Public Schools get off Christmas Day anymore is tradition and not because of the Religious Holiday.

 

I only ask because I truly don't know but how many Private Muslin Schools are in Dearbon, Mich which has a large Muslin population?

 

The number of Christian/Catholic schools in America is growing due to people wanting their children educated in a Christian/Catholic atmosphere, are the Muslin's doing the same thing? :idunno:

In Boone, Kenton and Campbell Counties it is indeed called Winter Break. Maybe you need to get outside that rural area of yours! Click each County to see their Calendar!

You do realize that "schools" have not always been out for Christmas, right? (see above links and research the historical Protestant record concerning Christmas)

 

You do also realize that Xmas is just theological short hand for Christmas? That X is the greek symbol for the letter that begins the name of Christ?

It's called Winter Break because the break is for Christmas and New Year's holidays. It's easier to say Holiday break or Winter break than the "Christmas and New Year's Day" Break.

I actually heard whole sermons based on it. The only problem is that Xmas isn't taking Christ out, he's in there. In fact the "X" is closer to his title/name than the english by virtue of the language in which the New Testament was written. :thumb:
