Man...Cordero scares the crap out of me. I'm not comfortable unless we are up 3.

Because the Reds haven't won in 10 years.

 

But they are this year and have spent a lot of the year in 1st.

Why do you say it is an awful sports town?

 

I don't know how other cities are, but there are so many fair weather fans...its ridiculous.

It's a weird thing and I don't think anyone exactly has the answer. I listened to a couple different people talk about it on the radio the past week.

 

I have been to about 11 games and would love to go to some more. But it is hard to justify spending that much money to go to a game when I can watch it with friends for free. I love the Reds and love watching them at GABP, but the cheapest tickets have been were at least 14. I know that isn't a lot of money, but that's $14 I can spend on gas to get to work lol. Free tickets are nice.

 

The free part is pretty much true with all fans for any team. But I am sure the economy has a lot to do with it.

 

 

Do the reds do a lot of special deals? For instance, The cards have some 1/2 price nights during the week and family ticket packages with free hot dogs and drinks.

It's a front running town that has a poor grasp on all of the major sports from my long term experiences. Used to be a great sports town that has gone down the drain over the last 20 years...

There are fair weather fans in all sports and at all levels. LOL

A lot of bad stuff went down politically and tax wise when they built the new stadiums. I was to young to really understand it, but I know that it left a really bad taste in a lot of peoples' mouths. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable could elaborate. I just understand that it was bad.

We were just talking that everyone would jump all over the opportunity to sign guys like Papelbon or Wagner as the Reds closer. He has 6 blown saves and Cordero has 6.

 

Not saying it doesn't bother me that he makes absolutely every save opportunity stressful but that puts it in perspective.

Cordero nails it down as if we had any doubt.

Not being from the area I always thought Cincy was a good baseball town but when I see the stadium half full during games it surprised me. I went there about 6 years ago to see the Cards play. We went on a Friday night and Sunday afternoon and had no problems getting very good field box seats. It really surprised me. So what you said makes sense.

They also do a head of household deal. One adult ticket at full price and up to four other tix for half price.
