Trinity/Highlands Scrimmage

Featured Replies

You probably want to consider some new CI's. :D If your contacts are affilliated with X school, they're probably trying to keep the target off their own backs. :D

But is it not true that Trinity players have received significant recognition/honors at some of the summer camps?

It's my understanding that a $5 admission fee will be charged for this scrimmage, on account of it being associated with the Tom Potter Classic. Does all of the money go toward the Tom Potter Classic fund, or do Highlands and Trinity receive some amount of the earnings?

I'd have to think that the Tom Potter Classic people are very fortunate to have this HHS-THS scrimmage be part of the Tom Potter Classic line-up, since it sounds like the scrimmage attendance is going to be much higher than what is seen at a typical NKY preseason scrimmage (especially given it's been posted that a Louisville contingent will be making the trip to NKY).

Also, I have a question: I know that Highlands has scrimmaged Beechwood and Male in the recent past. What other teams have scrimmaged against Highlands?

But is it not true that Trinity players have received significant recognition/honors at some of the summer camps?

None of that matters when the season starts.

Classic smoke and mirrors.....

Really? What does camp recognition have to do with playing the real games? 7 on 7, QB Camps, Lineman camps...none of those put you in real game situations. It's great, but there's a lot of work to put together a team effort at every position and win games.

LN

I hope that is very much the case. However, I do not know how accurate one could be in such a claim - when discussing; young, inexperienced, untried -unproven kids on the V level ?

EXTREMELY athletic and talented I was told. Obviously inexperienced on the varsity level. But I've been told the Rocks have looked extremely good in practice; better than even some optimistic followers expected them to be at this point in the year.

I think Whackem realizes that; he was just pointing out that the camps, etc. indicate that T has a bunch of very skilled and talented athletes. Such doesn't guarantee a good football team, but unless the T fans are now doubting the ability of the T coaches, I have to believe that they will perform at a very high level as a team. You give me very athletic, hard working, committed and disciplined kids coached by excellent coaches, and I'll give you an excellent football team. At this time of year, every football team, even those with a lot of returning starters are going to struggle some. I think T will be a lot better than some are expecting or at least are claiming they are expecting.

Again, passing on what I have been told by some "followers" of the program, T's starting unit will be quicker, faster and more athletically talented than last year's starting unit. Didn't some of this year's juniors get a fair amount of playing time last year as sophomores?

This thread is honestly as predictible as UK#1Fan proclaiming the greatness of SK. The fans of both teams alternate between downplaying their chances, claiming how young they are, boasting how great their tradition is, oh some key guys are hurt, the game means nothing, it means everything, and we can't seem to schedule each other in the regular season ever because it costs too much money.:D

Schedule each other for real. No excuses.

Has always been my (and my AD's) understanding that admission can NOT be taken up for a scrimmage. "Donations" are allowed, but not admission.

Leatherneck?

Nah, if we did that, you'd have nothing to incessantly complain about.:D

In Case Situation BL 25-10 8), it states that the schools, at the discretion of the host school, may charge admission, sell concessions, pay officials, etc for a scrimmage. Unless that's changed since last year's handbook (and I don't think it has) admission can be charged.

By the way folks, some of my contacts knowledgable about T's team this year are telling me that T will be much, much better than some T fans are posting on here. Is Louiville experiencing flooding?

The flood is over, the land is dry, why do you wear your pants so high!!!:lol::lol:

By the way....just another day until the "Mythical Super Bowl High School Scrimmage":laugh::laugh:

Like watching a tennis match sometimes!:popcorn:

I imagine HHS will be in the same vein as as the opponent T opened with for a few seasons some years ago, Montgomery Bell Academy of Nashville, coached by former Bama QB, Jeff Rutledge. MBE was always , first and foremost, a very well coached team, strong at every position with some D-1 players sprinkled throughout, tough and classy. They were a tremendous opener for the Rocks. I realize that this scrimmage is not an "opener" but I'm sure it will be a great learning opportunity for the sophomores as they step into the world of big-time high school football.
