August 5, 201016 yr Author It means the Royals have 10 days to decide what to do with him. If the Reds claimed him on waivers, they would have to pick up his pro-rated portion of his $12 million salary for the rest of the year. The Reds could trade him, release him or even bring him back on the roster, I think. Toronto did that with Edwin Encarnacion a couple of months ago. I understand what designated for assingment means, but they can't trade him unless he's cleared waivers. Does this mean that he is already cleared waivers?
August 5, 201016 yr I understand what designated for assingment means, but they can't trade him unless he's cleared waivers. Does this mean that he is already cleared waivers, and nobody claimed him?Not necessarily ... he may have already cleared waivers. He may also have just now been placed on waivers. Generally, that stuff isn't always public knowledge.

August 6, 201016 yr Phillips 4 Heisey 8 Votto 3 Rolen 5 Gomes 7 Bruce 9 Hannigan 2 Janish 6 Arroyo 1 I like it....A lot. I'm very happy. Love seeing Heisey getting the start and in the two hole. I think he could bring more to the table than even Cabrera was there, but I don't want to get ahead of myself.
August 6, 201016 yr We will see what Cubs teams shows up, the one that played the Cardinals really tough or the one that recently lost 7 or 8 in a row, including giving up nearly 18 runs in two seperate games

August 6, 201016 yr It seems these mid-summer trips to Wrigley are always good to the Reds bats. Small park, wind blowing, usually leads to high scoring HR affairs. Really enjoyable games to watch.
August 6, 201016 yr Why don't the Cubs realize they aren't really that special and just play their games on Friday nights like the rest of MLB?
August 6, 201016 yr Why don't the Cubs realize they aren't really that special and just play their games on Friday nights like the rest of MLB? I think it comes down to the neighborhood that Wrigley is located in, someone who knows the area better than me can say for sure. I believe they are only allowed a handful of night games each year or something.
