August 4, 201016 yr Which is it? "No doubt" or "slight chance"? There is no doubt in my mind that he'll be in Cincinnati, but there's always an outside shot that he'd get traded if the right offer was made... I would not trade Bruce. Edited August 4, 201016 yr by ColonelCrazy
August 4, 201016 yr Lack of progress? Other than his HR and RBI numbers he's put up his best numbers thus far.... Still striking out at an impressive clip and I'd be surprised if his final averge ends north of .250. Sure, an improvement over last year's misery, but if he finishes in the mid .240's range, it will be considered very, very disappointing.
August 4, 201016 yr  Well, those must be the 4 times I've seen him pitch. Either way, that just means he's worse than I thought at giving up his own runs. I guess that's what I get for not looking it up before I post. In 14 appearances he has given up his own runs in 4 games. So, in 6 of the 14 games he's pitched a run has scored that either he inherited or he put them on and they scored.
August 4, 201016 yr I'm not in favor of trading Bruce, but I am in favor of his not being in right field every day while he's slumping badly & we're in the thick of a divisional race.
August 4, 201016 yr Yep, at least as it is now. I'm in favor of pushing Wood back a day, throwing Leake on normal rest on Sunday, so they can have Wood, Cueto, Arroyo vs. St. Louis. Agreed. Aren't the Cardinals making similar adjustments so that we get their top 3?
August 4, 201016 yr Atta boy Janish....3-run bomb....9-1 Reds 3-3 with 4 RBI today....4-7 thus far. That's my boy. More than adequate...
August 4, 201016 yr Are you serious? He doesn't even have 2 full season in the majors and is 23 years old. Most experts will tell you that major league players hit their prime at around 27 years of age. He has way too much potential to just let him go. What is with the man crush on Jay Bruce. He seems like he don't care and hasn't changed anything with his swing to try and break this slump. Watching him now for 2 1/2 seasons bat around .250 is getting old after all the hype he was built up to be. Just not the kind of production expected out of a corner outfielder I'd expect. JMO.
August 4, 201016 yr Agreed. Aren't the Cardinals making similar adjustments so that we get their top 3? Yeah so the Reds would face Waino I think.

Yeah, because Bruce has a laid back personality that must mean that he his working on his swing and that he doesn't care. Come on, man!
August 4, 201016 yr Yeah, because Bruce has a laid back personality that must mean that he his working on his swing and that he doesn't care. Come on, man! I'm just saying IF I saw some improvement I would have a little more sympathy. Even Thom Brenneman said it the other night; he has the same swing on every pitch. It's not hard to tell he's guessing everytime..
August 4, 201016 yr The Reds will face Carpenter, Garcia & Wainwright when they come to Cincy. The Monday game (v. Carpenter) is at 12:35 I think.

August 4, 201016 yr Love that Janish and Fransisco can come in and not only hold their own but make a big difference in the game.
