August 4, 201016 yr Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with swinging at the 1st pitch or early in the count, but when a pitcher has thrown near 50 pitches in 2 innings and is seemingly working every hitter to 2-2 or 3-2 counts, I think you're best served to be patient, or at the very least if you are going to be swinging, make sure it's a strike. I couldn't agree more.
August 4, 201016 yr He said he wasn't always able to answer the bell. I'd say an average at least 20 points lower than his regular average every year you mentioned except 1 would mean he was a better hitter when guys weren't in scoring position. I don't think it's an end-all stat either. I do think EZ's point was correct though. He had a very good average and wasn't a huge RBI guy b/c he wasn't as good with RISP. Career .311 RISP avg. Lets compare: Votto .322 Chipper .301 Jeter .306 Mauer .346 Albert .344 So you're still saying he wasn't good with RISP? What is good?
August 4, 201016 yr Cueto with another great outing today....6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K. My only complaint with Johnny is he throws a lot of pitches. Can't argue with his results though.
August 4, 201016 yr I think the Reds have found their everyday CF...Another multi hit game for Heisey.
August 4, 201016 yr I think the Reds have found their everyday CF...Another multi hit game for Heisey. Its certainly going to be hard to justify putting Stubbs back in as the everyday CF.
August 4, 201016 yr Career .311 RISP avg. Lets compare: Votto .322 Chipper .301 Jeter .306 Mauer .346 Albert .344 So you're still saying he wasn't good with RISP? What is good? I actually didn't say it. I just said he wasn't as good the years you mentioned with RISP. He never had 100 RBI's and always hit in the RBI positions and I'd guess all those guys have cracked 100 or Votto will. I really think his original point was AVG isn't as important as situational hitting and moving guys over when you are the 2nd hitter. Janish is hitting 8th today so maybe Dusty figured this one out in time.
