August 4, 201016 yr Dusty pinch-hits a lefty vs. a lefty with 2 in scoring position. Puts arguably the best hitter in the league in to PH with first base open. Where is westsider? Who would you rather him have used? You aren't going to waste Votto in that situation, Nix is a lefty as well, and you aren't going to use your backup catcher as a PH in the 6th....Would you really have liked him to use Stubbs?
August 4, 201016 yr I'd have hit Hannigan. That's who. And with regards to Votto with firstbase open, anyone else would have been appropriate. Again, I say, anyone. The only manager in the flippin' league who wouldn't have walked him there is the guy who sent him up to PH in the first place. Are you really not seeing that?

You don't waste your backup catcher in the 6th inning. Hernandez gets hurt, then you're screwed. To the second part, what are you talking about? I didn't say anything about them walking Votto there...
August 4, 201016 yr Interesting lineup today, but I like it.... Phillips 4 Heisey 8 Votto 3 Gomes 7 Nix 9 Francisco 5 Hernandez 2 Janish 6 Cueto 1

August 4, 201016 yr Yes because the stats for catchers going down in the 7th inning and beyond is astounding. That's bad baseball, plain and simple. No it's not. Backup catchers are almost always the last guys off the bench.
August 4, 201016 yr No it's not. Backup catchers are almost always the last guys off the bench.Yes it is. He should have pinch hit in that situation. If "almost always" is true, yesterday should have been the exception.
August 4, 201016 yr Are the Reds going to bat out of order, as Francisco was going to bat next and Marty and Cowboy had same lineup as posted on here?
August 4, 201016 yr Are the Reds going to bat out of order, as Francisco was going to bat next and Marty and Cowboy had same lineup as posted on here? Who knows the rule regarding batting out of order? What are the requirements for the umpire to rule an out?
August 4, 201016 yr Lineup officially switched and he leads off 2nd with a double and bunted over to third by Nix.
