I've heard Inge, Damon, and Guillen's names being mentioned as 3 guys they'd like to rid themselves of, if they throw in the towel...I think Damon or Guillen (with Cabrera sidelined) would help the Reds.

He may be. I just read that he was a guy likely to be moved if the Tigers were out of it, and thought he would fit in well with the Reds current lineup.

Reds need another power bat. Not going to last down the stretch if they don't figure something out. Corner out fielders HAVE to produce, and Jay Bruce is simply not getting it done.

Nonetheless this team needs to add some kind of bat.

Like his first year with LA, Manny would be fine for 2-3 months. Especially with guys like Rolen and Gomes in the clubhouse. Although Stubbs would have to call him Mr Ramirez.

I guess I am of the minority who would take Manny. Now as a Cardinals fan, my sphincter would tighten if I heard he was coming to Cincy. I know it's Manny, but he is the kind of guy who would carry the Reds, and him and Votto would be suicide for opposing pitchers.

 

This is all assuming that he actually plays the way he can, which hasn't been the case this season. I'd look to just 2 years ago when he was average for the Red Sox and then went to the Dodgers and hit like .400. He was in a contract year then, and is in one now. It's whether or not Manny wants to play, and if he does look out.

Jose Guillen was designated for assingment today. I don't know if that means he was put on waivers, and he cleared waivers or what, but he wouldn't be a bad guy to pick up if Walt could get him.

It means the Royals have 10 days to decide what to do with him. If the Reds claimed him on waivers, they would have to pick up his pro-rated portion of his $12 million salary for the rest of the year.

 

The Reds could trade him, release him or even bring him back on the roster, I think. Toronto did that with Edwin Encarnacion a couple of months ago.
