August 3, 201016 yr Votto most of the games Should've asked what kind of 3 hole hitter did they have. I think that makes a HUGE difference. The two hole hitter will see a lot better pitches in front of the 2010 Votto.
August 3, 201016 yr I fully expect Janish to play well...It seems that any time this year a starter has went out, their replacement has really stepped up and filled in more than adequately....(See Cairo, Corky, etc.)

August 3, 201016 yr I, too, think Janish will play well. He's as slick fielding the ball as Bill Clinton is undoing bra straps. At the dish, I think he's more than capable of hitting .250 or .260 over a period of 25 or 30 games.

Does he move the runner when it needs to happen, can he lay down the bunt to move the runner. Can he hit and run with the man on first so they can continue to go 1st to 3rd or to stay out of the double play? Does he drive in the big 2 out runners. Can he steal a base, (this one I think we all know the answer to)? As much as we loved Sean Casey, he always had a nice average but when you needed him to hit with 2 outs and a man in scoring position he wasn't always able to answer the bell thus not high RBI numbers.

Seems to me EZ was right. He had a better AVG every year you mentioned except 06.

August 3, 201016 yr I also expect Janish to fill in and do a solid job at the plate. Most of all, I love seeing him make plays in the field. He's nasty with the leather..

He had a better AVG every year you mentioned except 06. If the point he was trying to make is simply that his overall average was higher that RISP then he was correct. However, he said that Casey had a good overall average but when men were in scoring position he didn't do well. I think the stats would show that's not the case. With that said, I don't think RISP is an end-all-be-all stat.
