August 3, 201016 yr If Cabrera isn't out for too long, Janish's glove is a decent alternative. At this point, he may be the better player anyway. Right now they don't need defense they need offense and Dusty putting Janish into the 2 hole on this team won't produce much offense over the long haul.

August 3, 201016 yr Cabrera stained oblique, most defiantly going on the DL. Joel Pineiro of the Angels just suffered the same injury and they projected 6-8 weeks recovery. I know he's a pitcher but that type injury requires more rehab time for some than others.

That would be great if you only need it now and then but over an extended period of time he hasn't been able to maintain that consistency. If the Red's brass thought that he could have been an everyday player they wouldn't have brought Cabrera in to start with. Now if we have to live with Janish there for an extended period of time we can only hope that he plays over his head because this team can't stand another weak bat in the lineup with the way some others are swinging the bat.
August 3, 201016 yr And some of you are so optimistic. I know. I get accused of that a lot on here. lol I just like the way Janish has performed so far this year. He has played well. He can fill in adequately for awhile, I think.
