Makes Votto coming back quickly even more important now. Votto needs to be back in Friday at the very latest.

Looks like Janish will get a chance. It will be interesting to see what kind of move the Reds make now? Will they call up Zach Cozart, or will Walt try to make a waiver wire trade? Cozart is hitting .268 with 15 HR, 53 RBI, and 24 SB at Louisville.

And a career average just over .200.

To say he can't hit at all isn't being fair though. He is actually hitting 10 points higher and has a .370 OBP percantage compared to Cabrera's .302

Houston takes 8-4 lead in the 9th.

Houston playing add on with 4 runs so far in the top of the 9th. They lead the Cardinals 9-4.

I'm think it could be Valaika.

How so? He is what he is. I don't wanna have to find out what he would do if we had to use him for a long period of time.

Because he can hit a little. He's not a total offensive liability at the plate. I don't like the idea of Cabrera missing a lot of time either, but I feel Janish, and whoever the Reds call up can do an adequate enough job while OC is out.

Anybody know of any shortstops that could help the Reds that might possibly sneak through the waiver wire?

Yuniesky Betancourt $3,300,000

I think you bring up Cozart and see what he can do....

If you're looking at a trade, what about good ole' Jeff Keppinger?

Well the Cards just lost to the Astros, so the Reds are back in 1st. They would have first shot over the Reds now.

Certainly wouldn't be a bad option.
