August 3, 201016 yr Well it would depend on who is going to get the majority of the playing time. Cozart is a much better fielder than Valika from everything I've read. Well there's that, plus the fact that Cozart seems to have the inside track on being the SS of the "future" on this team. He's producing pretty darn well at Louisville and is only 23.
August 3, 201016 yr Actually I think they should just bring up Alonso and tell Votto he's playing SS until Cabrera gets back....
August 3, 201016 yr Let's say it is Sutton, and Janish gets the majority of the time at SS. Who do you put in the # 2 hole? Heisey? Janish? How about seeing what Bruce can do hitting in front of Votto? I think Heisey or Janish would be the best options, but Bruce would definitely be interesting...
August 3, 201016 yr The situation with Votto; are they being precautious or is it serious. Sorry haven't been able to read much on it..

August 3, 201016 yr 25 in 10 days, but who's counting?  My brother and I were having a conversation about him yesterday and he told me he's 23, so I just assumed he knew what he was talking about...

August 3, 201016 yr Doesn't sound serious, but ya never know. Yeah, I figured he was semi hurt/getting rest.
August 3, 201016 yr To say he can't hit at all isn't being fair though. He is actually hitting 10 points higher and has a .370 OBP percantage compared to Cabrera's .302In 74 plate appearances ... not exactly compelling evidence. Janish didn't hit in the minors and barely cleared the Mendoza Line in 300+ plate appearances the last two years. It isn't likely that he suddenly learned to hit major league pitching.
August 3, 201016 yr If Cabrera isn't out for too long, Janish's glove is a decent alternative. At this point, he may be the better player anyway.

Janish has yet to prove that he can hit when given a chance as he was the end of last year.
August 3, 201016 yr ^ He might have to. How long does an oblique strain tend to sideline a player? Is that one of those nagging injuries that can linger?
