I was a big supporter of Janish last season. I wish he would have played over Gonzalez.

 

Janish is a good stop gap. I think Heisey should hit 2nd.

 

What about JJ Hardy as a potential acquisition? I wish the Reds would have pursued him last year. Now, he's hitting 9th in Minnesota. I have no idea if he'd be available or not, just throwing a name out there.

Edgar Renteria may be an option. He's horribly overpaid.

 

What about Willie Bloomquist from KC, or Chone Figgins from Seattle? I'd rather see the Reds bring up Cozart, Sutton or Valaika before acquiring Bloomquist. Figgins has played a little bit of SS in his career, but not much at all.

I think he was in the upper 230's a few weeks back. You guys are lamenting his loss like it was A-Rod that just went down. Janish is probably an even better glove and has hit about as well or better this year. Give him a shot for awhile.

Janish has 60 at bats, you guys act like he has done it for half the season. Tack on 100 AB's to that and he is hitting around .230.

Like I said already the guys who see him everyday didn't think he could do the job and they brought in Cabrera on a 1 year contract with an option. I think Janish is only holding the spot for Valaika or Cozart anyway.

There is a lot more to playing and batting everyday. Cabrera is a professional hitter that goes to the plate with a plan for each at bat. You just don't throw anybody into the 2 hole and expect them to be able to handle it like a 10 year veteran can. Everybody knows that Dusty will try to get away with that and it won't work very well. The 2 guy has to hit behind the runner, hit and run, bunt a runner over. when has Janish ever proven he can do all these things on a regular basis?

I understand what you're saying and your point is well taken. Janish may hit .160 over four or six weeks or he may hit .280. I do know he has a .370 OBP this year(yes, small sample size) and has had games where he was more than adequate at the dish. He has the ability to fill in nicely for 30 or 40 games. I'm hoping he excels.

In 74 plate appearances ... not exactly compelling evidence.

 

Janish didn't hit in the minors and barely cleared the Mendoza Line in 300+ plate appearances the last two years. It isn't likely that he suddenly learned to hit major league pitching.

 

 

 

I never said he was going to tear the cover off the ball, but to say he can't hit at all isn't accurate.

I think Heisey should hit 2nd.

 

That was going to be my suggestion as well. Start Heisey in CF again and then put him in the two hole. I think it would be a decent option, and move Janish down to the 8th spot.

The Reds are 60-47...Can we chill out a bit? Dont get so greedy Reds fans.

Reds will survive without OC. They have to have Votto and Rolen healthy the rest of this summer. If that happens Reds make the playoffs IMO.
