TO signs one year deal with Bengals

Featured Replies

I'm with Crash here. I'd take Schaub over Palmer right now no questions asked if we're talking pure skills.

Who ever said otherwise? Also, that was Cats, not Crash.

Do you not remember how awful he was at the end of the season and in the playoff game last year? Carson just isn't that good.

I think Carson is rated right where he should be. No one has rated him as an elite top 3 or 4. Doesn't mean he couldn't have a huge year, though.

How in the world is he overrated? He's not even considered in the top half of QBs by most "football gurus"....

I'm still waiting on an answer....How is someone not considered in the top half of QBs overrated?

Do you not remember how good he was at other times during last season?

Outside of a few games..He's overrated because Bengal fans continue to put their trust into Carson and believe he's a fantastic quarterback but he continually underachieves. He's slow and inaccurate. He's just lucky he has a high football IQ. Cincinnati is settled on Carson and to be perfectly honest, I'm not settled at all. As long as he's under center we're not winning a superbowl. Take it to the bank...

Anybody going to training camp I am going tomorrow morning.

The bolded could be said about 25+ teams in the NFL....What's your point?

Not planning on going at all, but I have 3-4 friends that work for the Bengals and are down there for the duration. I'm hoping to get daily updates from them. I'm starting to get into football mode!

Please, Palmer doesn't deserve to even be mentioned in the same breathe as Steve Young.

Palmer is still somewhat "young." (no pun intended)

Steve Young had the luxury of playing on some very talented 49ers teams. I'm not saying Palmer is better or worse, but come on. Palmer is one of the best passers in the league right now. (Top 5)

The one thing that Young had/has on Palmer was his ability to improvise. From a pure QB standpoint, call me crazy, but I'd take Palmer. Look at how many dropped balls his receivers had last year. That had a lot more to do with his completion percentage than actual bad throws.

OK

In looking at productions and what they accomplished, I am not sure you can say Palmer is without a doubt better than McNabb, Romo, or even Jeff Garcia (before you laugh, go look at Garcia's numbers).

Young is the most accurate passer in NFL history and a Hall of Famer. His production speaks for itself.

Again...look at who Young had around him and he also had the benefit of playing with one of the best WR ever, Jerry Rice.

Carson Palmer better than Steve Young...are you drunk? I really hope that was a joke. For my money McNabb, Garcia and Romo are all better than Carson Palmer as well. Of couse I think Palmer is the most overrated (by fans) player I have ever seen in the NFL. He's not even Matt Schaub let alone Steve Young.

As for not liking the make-up, the Bengals are talented but with this many questionable guys they are one meltdown away from being a disaster. Some teams can handle troubled players, the Bengals really don't do a good job of it. I'm glad all of these guys are in Cincy, it should make for an exciting season as a person with no set NFL team.

How can you say Palmer is overrated? I don't think anyone has hyped him up to be something he isn't.

And the Bengals don't do a good job at handling troubled players? Have you not seen what they've done with Tank Johnson and Ced Benson? I'd say both of the guys had more baggage than TO when they came in. I think a lot of this criticism is coming from a pure dislike of TO. When he is putting up the numbers, a lot of you will try to jump on the bandwagon and say you thought it was a good idea from the get-go, but simply had some doubts.

Top 5 in the league!!!???? Are you kidding me? What has he done to even warrant top 10 consideration?

He has never won even one playoff game.

He's not a leader.

He's not a leader.

He would of won at least one and maybe more a few years ago. He was good enough for the Steelers to make sure he didn't play long enough to beat them.

So true. :thumb:

Seriously? We're still bitter about that?
