And he was young and having success, many of the talking heads also used to think Drew Bledsoe was going to be an all-time great but they were wrong though. Palmer has always been extremely overated to me. As for your original argument: 1. Comparing Palmer to Steve Young is ridiculous and most would see that it's a horrible comparison or that it's horrible to say Palmer is better. 2. Saying Palmer is overrated is nothing like the previous statement. You may disagree with it, but many people would probably say that he is. No one other than a Bengals-lover or 49ers-hater would say Palmer is even close to being as good as Young. Big difference, no? So when Palmer is having success, it's because of his talented receivers, but when someone like Manning, who's had better receivers than Palmer, has success, it's because he's just that good? Yeah, that makes sense...:lol:

July 28, 201016 yr Carson should have top 10 numbers this year IMO. The pressure is all on him now. Exactly. When he has had a decent receiving corps he has put up decent numbers. He isn't one of the best QBs in the game, but early in the season he showed some serious grit in leading the Bengals in a come from behind victory against both the Steelers and Ravens. This of course was before Henry injured his arm and the passing game still had some relevance. The passing game last season ceased as soon as the only receiving threat was Chad, the addition of Bryant and Owens changes that dramatically. From my perspective it will be a fun season no matter what happens. Either way with the personalities we have on the team now it will be entertaining.

Since then, he's been merely a shell of himself. There was no jumping the gun, he had a career altering knee injury. It happens, but it doesn't change the fact that prior to it, he was elite.

Last year his production of over 50 receptions, 800 yards, and 6 TDs would have made a world of difference on this offense. If he can replicate those numbers, with a huge upgrade at QB, it'll improve the passing game ten-fold.
