TO signs one year deal with Bengals

 You don't seriously believe that.

If so, there's no reason to continue to debate this with you. Chad is one of the best 10-15 receivers in the game right now, and they'll both be in Canton before it's all said and done.

Did you just put Chad Johnson in the Hall of Fame?

Top 5 in the league!!!???? Are you kidding me? What has he done to even warrant top 10 consideration?

He made 2 pro bowl teams. I would say that in 05, 06,07 he was definitely top 10 based on those numbers.

Which has what exactly to do with his level of play currently???

His #s put him there.

Not just yet. His numbers are not as good as Andre Reed's and Reed is not in. Could he be a Hall of Famer? Possibly but he has some work to do and he isn't getting younger.

And he's got another 3-4 years left in him....His numbers will end up better than Reeds IMO.

Carson is a red chip QB, hopefully he moves back to a blue chip after this year.

To the bolded, I'll ask you, are you drunk? Palmer was easily one of the games top 4-5 QBs and on the rise before his knee injury. Not sure how he was overrated....Matt Schaub is a solid guy, but he's also got the luxury of playing with the best WR on the planet as well.

He never really was one of the top WR to me. He had the luxary of playing with two guys who were among the top 10-15 WR in the game for much of his career in TJ and Chad, not to mention Henry was ultra talented. Plenty of guys did more with less. He's just always been average IMO and Bengals fans acted like he was a passing God.

It wasn't just Bengal fans. He was drawing comparisons from the talking heads and "gurus" to John Elway. So Peyton Manning must not be that spectacular either right? I mean he's had Wayne and Harrison along with Clark and Stokley most of his career.

I think we should start a count down to the implosion...

As a Steelers fan, wouldn't you be better off to start a countdown till Big Ben's next explosion?

Yep, like you, Pancake is interested in both.

I couldn't care less about Big Ben. I think he got a raw deal, honestly. But, that's neither here nor there.

Anyway, I like the signing of TO. The Bengals needed some help offensively and we have addressed that this offseason. I think Briscoe gets the last WR spot, meaning Jones & Simpson will both be gone.

Palmer is one of the most overrated passers in the entire NFL. Romo has a better completion %, better passer rating, less INT's, more yards and more TD's. Granted he threw a little over 80 more times, the numbers don't lie.

I disagree. Drew Brees could not have succeeded with last year's receiving corps. If you were a Defensive Coordinator, who would scare you on this list; OchoCinco (72 receptions), Caldwell (51), Coles (43),Foschi (27),Coats(12),Cosby(4).The last few games of the year, countless times I saw Denis Roland as an "H" back on third and long, which only gave Palmer two receivers running routes. A couple these receivers may not even be in the NFL in 2010. Although he may not be the surgeon he once was, Palmer is still a very good QB. He still may not put up better numbers than Romo this year, only because Ced will still carry the load. IMHO Romo is the most overrated QB in the NFL, I'll take 9 any day.

There has been a lot of concern about CP juggling the twin-ego's, he and the Bengals thrived when they had that problem to deal with (85 + 84).

I also think that both Bryant & Owens will help in the running game. They're both big, physical receivers who are capable blockers...

Okay let's not even go there in comparing Palmer to Manning. Maybe Cooper Manning .

And he was young and having success, many of the talking heads also used to think Drew Bledsoe was going to be an all-time great but they were wrong though.

Palmer has always been extremely overated to me. As for your original argument:

1. Comparing Palmer to Steve Young is ridiculous and most would see that it's a horrible comparison or that it's horrible to say Palmer is better.

2. Saying Palmer is overrated is nothing like the previous statement. You may disagree with it, but many people would probably say that he is. No one other than a Bengals-lover or 49ers-hater would say Palmer is even close to being as good as Young. Big difference, no?
