July 15, 201016 yr A big time pro athlete actually said something not totally fluffed for media consumption about a rival? Oh the humanity...
July 15, 201016 yr The reactions are kind of funny. He gave the guy props for his play and he dissed a rival at the same time. What exactly did he do wrong? I could understand maybe a little more if it was the USA team but it was an All Star game and the statement reads as tongue in cheek to me anyways. Relax fellas.
July 15, 201016 yr Just proves that Votto is a arrogant baby and needs to grow up. He had no business representing the National League. He needs to be punched in the neck. Ok now you don't have to hold back, tell us how you really feel?
July 15, 201016 yr I don't like the Reds and I'm not going to pat Votto on the back for what he said. But he did say something pretty cool and the experience of reading the article was pretty cool too. Nicely done. :thumb:

July 15, 201016 yr I loved the comments, Votto is a no BS type of player. The Cubs are the Reds hated rivals and its finally nice to see someone get nasty for once. Votto will go on an even bigger tear this second half of the year. No one wants the playoffs more than this guy I promise you that.
July 15, 201016 yr Wouldn't have meant much or garnered much attention if the Reds weren't in first place in the division. But they are baby!!!!!!!!!!!

July 15, 201016 yr Ok, so he don't like Byrd and the Cubs. They are far behind. I wonder if he buddied up with Pujols who plays for the Cards and is the only team that can keep the Reds from the playoffs?
July 15, 201016 yr This just shoots Votto up the list of my all time favorite Reds! I can't stand the Cubs or their annoying fans.
July 15, 201016 yr I really don't have any feelings one way or the other. I like Votto, but I thought the comments were somewhat strange. I'm sure it was said tongue in cheek. Regardless, I share his sentiments about the Cubs and am glad to see a professional athlete not worry about the media's backlash.
July 15, 201016 yr Apparently the Yahoo author (Dan Brown) has a history with Joey Votto. During an interview during Votto's 2nd year (in Chicago), he felt a disconnect with Votto during an interview & now he has an axe to grind... Here's the article w/ Dan Brown. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Answer-Man-Joey-Votto-talks-bowling-mustaches-;_ylt=ApW6oZwToObFiXAB.eF27QKrO4d4?urn=mlb,158587

He does this as a lighthearted, tongue-in-cheek thing, and Votto just didn't get it. After all, his first question to Joe Nathan in another of the "Answer Man" Q&As was "Can Mauer's sideburns be used as a flotation device." I don't know that the writer has an actual axe to grind. It's no secret Votto's not an easy interview.
