How many freshman teams are made up of just freshmen? I would guess the 6A schools and Cov Cath are all freshmen and the rest of the schools have quite a few 8th graders. Which schools' freshman team is 100% freshman?

 

 

Campbell County is 100% Freshman, which is a real shame because they have several 8th graders that could have made the team a lot better.

Cooper's Freshman team is all 8th graders and maybe 2-3 Freshman. I think the other Boone County schools have several 8th graders on their Freshman teams as well.

 

I would be very, very surprised if Ryle or Boone has any 8th graders. Conner I am not as sure of. With Cooper building a program, I can understand there being 8th graders.

Wow. You are right. I pulled up the freshman roster off that link and almost half Ryle's team is 8th graders. That really surprises me. I heard they had some outrageous number of kids try out so I assumed they wouldn't cut 9th graders to keep 8th graders. Interesting. I just assumed the 6A schools would have at least 30 or 40 freshmen tryout and would pick their team out of freshmen only.

This is Highlands' 1st year with a Frosh team. There are typically 2 - 5 Freshmen at any game (depending on whether JV and Varsity are also playing at the same time). There are 5 or 6 8th graders and several 7th graders making significant contributions.

You didn't sound sure about it in the post as it relates to Boone and Ryle. And like I said, knowing Ryle had a huge number of players try out I figured they would keep all the freshmen they could versus cutting freshmen to keep 8th graders. I am glad I asked the question about freshman rosters. This has been eye opening for me.

VOR-Not sure if you checked out the JV roster as well, several freshman on there. Probably 1/2 soph, 1/2 freshman. Maybe trickle down effect not sure.
