There is a thread going on the JV records and tournament so I will start one on the freshmen. The freshman tournament starts May 13. Let's post records and comments about the freshman teams in N. Ky. and who the favorites are for this tournament.

I'll insert my newbie questions here as well: How is the tournament conducted? Where are the games played? Who runs it?

I have heard St. Henry hasn't lost, but don't know their record.

Highlands is 5-6-1. 5-2-1 against N. Ky. teams.

The CovCath frosh are currently 8-5 but they have won their last six games and beat NCC tonight by a score of 2-1 at NCC!

The Beechwood Freshman improved their record to 9 and 2 with a run rule win over Campbell County last night. Their only losses were a 2-1 loss in their first game against Ryle, and a loss to Dixie, however they have since revenged that loss to Dixie.

The phenomenal play of Jake Bertke this year has really elevated the entire team play of the tigers. His improvement on and off the field has really impressed me, not only me, but many others. I was taking a drive past the Bertke household a few days ago and managed to glance over and see Jake and his mom working on some soft toss and blocking drills. These simple mechanics of the game off the field go a long way and the Bertkes really know how it's suppossed to be done.

I have only gotten to see him once this season and I would have to concur. Huge improvement from last summer to this spring. The kid is a very hard worker and will continue to improve.

Conner's Freshman team is 13-6-1. They are a good hitting team.

Scott has some talent but they are extremely young. Most of the entire team is made up of 8th graders alone. There record has not reflected some of the talent they do have but that will come with more experience. Scott will be good in a few years down the road but right now? Not so much..

How many freshman teams are made up of just freshmen? I would guess the 6A schools and Cov Cath are all freshmen and the rest of the schools have quite a few 8th graders. Which schools' freshman team is 100% freshman?

Covcath and Campbell Co are all freshmen.

Cooper's Freshman team is all 8th graders and maybe 2-3 Freshman. I think the other Boone County schools have several 8th graders on their Freshman teams as well.

Heard today the freshmen and jv draw this evening. Should be interesting, no clear cut favorite in either tournament.
