  1. I should have thrown in "Look at the college stats comparisons" from one year to the next. I am was aware the change was in 2011, just forgot to throw that in.
  2. I think all you have to do is look at the college stats for 2010 and 2011 for the differences it made.
  3. This really revolves around LEADERSHIP wildcat. Hopefully someone will be able to step up and fill that role. Now I'm going to show my age. The Big Red Machine was a great team top to bottom. Once they got rid of their "Leader" "Tony Perez" they were never the same. Not saying Roberts was a Perez, just trying to show how a Leader can affect a team. JMO!
  4. They will be tough, but they are missing a key ingredient to that team. MR. ROBERTS! Going to be tough to replace that fire and leadership! No disrespect to any of the other kids.
  5. Don't know everyone on the list but Dunn of Cooper might be the youngest of the list given thus far. He finished with a 3.54 as a frosh against the tougher teams on the schedule in his first year as a varsity player. Dunn is the only returning starter from last years starting staff. Collin Smith should be very tough from the other side. This should give Cooper a solid 1 - 2. Cooper looks to have some solid young arms that will be bidding for rotational spots. Carrella, Collins, Setser, Lawhorn, Rowland and Bergouis. Can't say they are better than some of the names mentioned above but they will battle.
  6. In regards to Boone, Ryle, Conner and Cooper. Boone has Teegarden and a solid supporting cast, but rumor is that he will not pitch. Once again, RUMOR! Ryle will be solid as usual. Conner is going to be a question mark due to the loss of Roberts IMO. He seemed to be the fuel for the fire. They still have some very solid players just wonder who or what will keep the fire burning. Cooper lost 3 of the 4 starters from last years pitching staff and 1 reliever. Sophmore, Dunn will be the number 1 and I know there are some very good arms coming up through the system. Boone and Ryle seem to be sitting pretty good. Only time will tell what Conner and Cooper will do.
  7. 1-2 on the pitching staff. Sorry for not clarifying that First.
  8. Like I said in a previous thread, 5+ was pushing it. He has been in the top 1-2 most of the year. I will say once that happened it would have been best to pull him right after the umpire stopped the game and then addressed him about the way he stood on the mound. At that time I would agree with you on the "Nervous" or "out of sorts". Thompson came in and picked his teammate up, just like he should have done as a senior leader. Props to Thompson no doubt!
  9. OK 5+ probally pushing it. They are similar in regards to how they stand on the mound. It has something to do with how far ones shoulder is more forward than the other from what I can gather. Trying to get clarification on what the ruling was. If this is the case, then there has been a huge failure on part of the umpires. All year long they had nothing to say about how he sets up on the mound. I truthfully don't feel that either pitcher got away with anything. Neither was doing anything wrong. JMO!
  10. Coop, maybe you should ask the umpire after the first pitch, why he had him stand on the field for 5+ minute delay and then tell him he had to stand different from the way he's stood all year, which is very similar to Teegarden. That is the only time he would have even looked "nervous". You would also need to understand who's been pitching what games all year, against who and what their true ERA's are. Control at times? Yes! ERA? 1 or 2 for the team and against upper tier teams. There are dynamics within the pitching staff you or anybody are just are not aware of.
  11. Dunn needs to attack the zone. He has to trust his stuff as he did against Ryle. Walks are killing him at this point. He has some minor mechanical issues that need to be fixed for sure. Not a typical Frosh size and arm wise, but has not harnessed the mental portion of the varsity game. Decent performance.
  12. Cooperstown, I know him and the situation very well and all I can say is this is an eggshell situation.
  13. Parents have been the ones to put coach on egg shells. Forget that! Play your best at all times. Every kid should be looked at the same. If you are on a Varsity team, you are there for a reason. Just because you get a uniform doesn't mean you get to play. Perform and earn your spot. If you are an upper-classman, who cares. Earn it and don't let anyone take it from you if you want to be the man at your position.
  14. I do have to say this one was bit of a shocker. Big win for the Cougars! I've seen Campbell and they seem to have one of the more tougher line-ups 1-9.
  15. And this thread continues. Wow! This thread was about a particular game and then someone comes in and starts talking about JV. The JV comment should have been a thread of it's own. Basically what has happened is this person is an underclassmen putting down his on teamates and I don't think he even knows he's doing it. Bottom line is Ryle's Varsity has had a pretty tough schedule to start the season. Give the teams credit along with who's pitching against them. If you don't want to do that maybe you should go to one of the above mentioned schools or somewhere south as mentioned so you can get on a varsity team. I'm quite sure there's a school in the south you could start varsity for.
  16. Mr. Terrific........Doesn't sound like your giving your Varsity team much credit. Just note, the overall speed of the game is much different than the JV level. Not to discount Ryles JV record, great job! Just watch how high the horse is that your riding.
  17. Very good game by both teams. Pitching and defense was the name of this game.
  18. Cooper Varsity Baseball Roster #27 John Bjurquist - Senior #8 Andrew Brownfield - Senior #18 Cameron Carlotta - Senior #29 Nick Phillips - Senior #39 Trey Stinnett - Senior #4 Ryan Thompson - Senior #28 Troy Wilke - Senior #7 Cody Mullen - Junior #13 Tyler Dilillo - Junior #17 Max Kilborn - Junior #5 Tyler Whitehead - Junior #24 Jared Blank - Sophmore #2 Nick Carr - Sophmore #21 Adam Carella - Sophmore #30 A.J. Collins - Sophmore #32 Chris Setser - Sophmore #33 Hunter Dunn - Freshman
  19. Yes he does. They should have a very good 15U team. I don't know the whole roster but I know some. Dylan Huff - Bellvue Trevor Booth - Beechwood Jake Bertke - Beechwood Trey Martin - Ryle Robbie Rundel - Beechwood Chris Setser - Cooper Hunter Dunn - Cooper Josh Castlemen - Scott Blake Schumann - Beechwood Trey Ganns - Boone Thats 10 out of the 15 that I can think of. A lot of new faces from last years team. Sorry for any mis-spelled names in advance!
  20. Colin Smith, Louis Bergouis and Hunter Dunn are 3 that come to mind. Berqouis is out for the season though.
  21. I have seen most of the kids named, and they are very solid kids. But, Cooper has a few that would hang or possibly surpass the above mentioned.
  22. I am with ya hja1224. If I did have a kid that threw 90 and could hit corners I don't care what state your in, it's going to be tough to hit at the high school level.
  23. I feel that come cut day that a list or email is an easy way out. I think that the kids deserve that face to face. It shows respect, IMO. Things today are different from the past. Schools have their hands tied and sadly enough our generation created this problem. I think that for most kids they really don't start to become adults until they are close to graduating college. I am not saying all but a high percentage. I do feel that kids need to get a little tougher, but once again, we as adults need to approve of these life lessons and sadly enough a high percentage does not.
  24. I couldn't have said it any better.
  25. Cooper does have at least 5 kids that throw in the lower 80's. Out of the 5, 2 are sophs and 1 is a frosh. The frosh has been clocked as high as 85 mph. Not on any consistent basis though. They all will be around the 79-80 mark through at least 4 innings.
