What effect will BBCOR have on games this season?

I am willing to bet that the average score this season will be higher than last year......I ONLY say this because, more than likely, the weather HAS to be better than last year. My point is that the weather is a bigger factor than the bat's "coefficient of return". I like the new standards, and having seen my share of wooden bat tournaments, I understand the psychological aspect of stepping up to the plate without confidence in the old broom-handle. What do you guys think?

My son pitched in a wood-bat tourney in Tenn. this summer. He did extremely well, a 3 hit,12k performance against the #5 ranked team in ther country at the time. After the game he called me to tell me that he broke 4 bats during the game.......that's all he cared about. What does this tell you? He cut his fastball in more often trying to jam everyone......he PITCHED instead of threw.

I cannot figure out how to edit posts from my phone.......12k's not 14......sorry, guys.

You have a certain number of minutes to edit your post. After you make it and want to edit it if you see an "edit" button next to "reply" click on it and change your post there.

Just messing with you on the 12 or 14. Both are impressive.

The season ending stats from the NCAA for the 2010 season and the difference in the 2011 season, tells me your just about to strike out. They are using stats and your using your gut... Me, I go with the stats! Link

Really? Welcome to the world of HS baseball played in NKy.....Wet, cool/cold and windy.....

Pitching and "D" will be the standard of the game this year.

BTW have been told, that some of the better grade wooden bats (now we are talking MLB quality wooden bats) will have more pop on them, than the BBCOR bats will have.

ERA's, slugging percentages, home run production and runs scored will all likely be down. Batting averages likely won't change much overall because good hiters are good hitters, but the marginal hitters won't be getting that extra "umph" from the bat they've gotten in the past. Good teams will still generate runs because they know how to do it. But the BBCOR will take the game back more to pitching, defense and offensive strategy. All great changes in my book!

The cheap hits will be reduced...those little flares become pop outs, etc, so averages will likely be lower. Home runs will also be down. Hopefully those 12-10 games will mostly be things of the past. Pitching and d really have always been important. Dominant pitchers are dominant regardless of the bat being used. This switch in bats is going to help the number 3 or 4 guy in your rotation (as long as your defense is solid). I still don't see a big change in how the games are played with a complete return to all small ball.
