  1. He played the whole JV tourney if I'm not mistaken.
  2. Wow..............Congrats Coach Sanders and Tigers on a huge win. Good Luck the rest of the way!
  3. The first 2 innings of the game were great and as HJA1224 said the flood gates opened. That's baseball and it can happen at any time. Cooper is just not there quite yet but as First Base said, the future is bright. Since our horses are out of the race I will have to side for the Rebels. Good Luck Boone!
  4. With the dropping of Dilillo from the Varsity ranks to the JV ranks, were he seems to be pitching with more confidence it has seemed to push Dunn to where he should be. Smith was already throwing well and it seems as though Dunn might have found his commmand. Now they look to have 3 strong starters. In relief, Setser and Holland will need to be on top of their games for sure. Setser has been throwing well since entering the line-up and Holland hasn't thrown much lately, so should be strong and ready to go.
  5. I am up in the air with this. I do see both sides. I can tell you that Cooper has at least 8 kids that are 8th & 9th graders that they didn't bring down from the JV/Varsity level. They played with the team they had all year long.
  6. Congrats to the Ryle Freshman!!! That is a very big win against a very strong NCC team.
  7. OK, I would like to know, since you mainly see JV and Varsity games, who are some of the young 8th and 9th graders you do think are good? The player you named thought caught your eye is a good player, but if you are watching all these other schools then you should easly realize there are quite a few players that are at a different level than him and I would like to know who think thery are.
  8. Pick....I have seen the kid in the summer and that's why my comments are more on the fence with him. I have seen the upside and the downside. I would put him in the "late bloomer" stage as you reference. Judging from last summer I would agree with the not fleet of foot, but size in baseball doesn't mean as much as other sports. Take a look at many of the players in the majors. In regards to other kids to watch, I was looking at the Bluegrass Braves summer team roster, which has kids that play JV or have played some JV and even some Varsity.
  9. Blake is a very good ball player and has a ton of upside. There is one thing that can make you or break you in the game of baseball, and that is your head. That would be the one thing that could keep him from that "Stud Status". Hopefully that will not be an issue and he will reach the "Stud Status" as you had stated. You might want to take another look at that roster though because there could be a few potential studs on that roster.
  10. That is a quality win against a quality team for sure. Great job! Glad to see AJ getting his first blast of the year. Probably would have had 2 on Saturday for sure it the wind wasn't so bad. It will be interesting in a couple of years for the Jags since 8th grader Hunter Dunn hit #4 on the year yesterday. We will have to see, but we could be looking at the beginning of the "Baby Bash Brothers" in the upcoming years. :thumb:
  11. Big win against NCC for sure. They are a very good team. I agree that the line-up seems to be clicking. The problem is pitching depth and defense at times. Colin Smith has seemed to get into a groove and has 2 complete games. Dunn on the other hand has had control problems since the Cov. Cath game and he will be needed if Cooper plans to get very far in the tournament. Not saying that other pitchers can eat up the innings, but he has to be able to get deaper into the games. I'm sure he will find it, but it needs to be soon.
  12. Colin Smith and Hunter Dunn of Cooper are both 8th graders. Smith is a big lefty and Dunn a big righty. Both have handled themselves very well at the JV level. Smith has pitched 2 complete games (Conner & Holy Cross) and collected the "W's" on both. Dunn has pitched very well and has played exceptional at 3rd. He's hitting a little over .400 with 3 HR's. Put these boys with the 9th graders Blank, Collins, Carella, Carr and Setzer and they should have a very good varsity team in a couple of years.
  13. Cooper is 7-11 with 4 games left on the schedule to try to get to .500 on the season. Pitching is not deep, and not enough hitting throughout the line-up.
  14. I have only gotten to see him once this season and I would have to concur. Huge improvement from last summer to this spring. The kid is a very hard worker and will continue to improve.
  15. Hunter Dunn was the pitchers name.
  16. Cov. Cath is the best JV team that I've seen this year. They might want to make sure they are on top of there game since the target is on their back. I don't think that they realize that an 8th grader from Cooper held them in check for for 5 innings and left the game with a 4-3 lead before they could really get anything going. Once again, they are a very good team though.
  17. Great job again guys! Wow, I can't believe they would let some kid throw that many pitches this early in the season, actually any time during the year.
  18. Good Job Boys!!! Keep it up! JV boys destroyed Lloyd 22 - 1. Hunter Dunn pitched 3 innings without giving up a run. Looked very rusty, walked quite a few but pitched out of his self inflicted jams. Spencer Holland finished the game out and looked very solid. Very good day at the plate for all the boys. First JV homerun of the year goes to Dunn who was 3 for 3 on the day.
  19. Way to take care of business boys!!!
  20. They have 3 or 4 8th graders on JV with 1 of them, now an 8th grader, returning to JV for his 2nd year.
  21. I guess it depends on what you define as a long time? Thompson is a very good player, but I really think once these younger players get to be sohpmores and juniors Cooper will have a much stronger line-up. Not knocking any of the upper classmen, but the stronger group was the younger players, 7th, 8th and 9th graders. Just an observation!
  22. This team will have a target on it's back probably by the time Collins, Blank and Morris are Juniors. As far as arms go, you can't forget about Carella which is a very consitant pitcher that will just keep getting better and Dunn which was only a 7th grader last year that held his own at the JV level. Coaches really looked to protect him since he was so young, as they did with the other young players.
  23. Howie and Coach Beiger already has one of the BEST fields for sure. In regards to Ryle's field, everyone can only hope that they did some serious upgrades. They are needed in the worst way.
