Conner 13 Cooper 4

Featured Replies

Seeding game played at Cooper. Jags jumped out to a 3 to 0 lead in the first, then things went down hill from there.

Nelson goes the complete game for Conner, striking out 12. I believe Dunn started for Cooper. He looked good for the first few but then lost control of his fastball and gave up some hits/walks.

Conner hitting leader were Roberts with a 2B and 3 RBI. Ryle added 5 RBI.

Conner moves to 11-5 on the year. Will host Beechwood tommorrow.

Went down hill is an understatement. I got there at end of 3rd and watch with Conner fans on left field fence. Conner scored 6 in the 4th on 1 hit!!!! Why didn't they pull Dunn after his 4th walk in a row? The defense made a couple errors that inning but the defense will be flat when the pitcher is walking that much. Then they send him back out next inning and walks the 1st one or two in that inning. Dunn has been the best pitcher this year but when he loses the strike zone he loses quick and it don't come back to quick. Help the kid out and get a reliever in. They played 3 games in 3 weeks so plenty of available pitchers. He let the Conner bench get in his head but he will be very good as he gets older.

If your coach wants to win, why does he pull nearly all starters in the middle of 5th when they still have 3 at bats to go? And, it's the top 4 or 5 in your order. I talked to one of the parents and he said after last year when some parents tried to get him fired for his outburst, he now treats it like Little league and plays everyone, regardless of importance of game. Come on coach, PLAY TO WIN...

Conner is the better team top to bottom but not by this amount.

Sounds like the Cooper parents are now playing both sides of the coin. Heck it looks like that guy can win for losing, or is it lose for winning???

Coaching philosophies certainly differ. One coach takes his starters out after 2 AB's each game while another coach keeps 3-4 .200 hitters in the lineup every at bat of every game.

So which one is worse?

It's been a very dissapointing year for Cooper on several fronts. I think Coach should play his best to win and if the parents of those who are sitting don't like it, then so be it. I know the Athletic Director would back him up on playing time issues.

This is true, I also think the coach has put himself in this position with some of his actions in the past.

Parents have been the ones to put coach on egg shells. Forget that! Play your best at all times. Every kid should be looked at the same. If you are on a Varsity team, you are there for a reason. Just because you get a uniform doesn't mean you get to play. Perform and earn your spot. If you are an upper-classman, who cares. Earn it and don't let anyone take it from you if you want to be the man at your position.

Todays coaches must be politically correct and teach cooperation vs. competition. This culture started about 20 years ago and is finding it's way into high school sports. To many coaches want to be loved by everyone and they want to make everyone happy. This is simply not possible if winning is all that matters. If winning is secondary, then it's a good system.

I'm surprised. From what I've been told about Beiger (from someone who knows him very well), he didn't sound like the type of coach that would cave to the demands of parents. I know he benched his top player for a week earlier this year for going on Spring Break. Those are the types of stories I've heard about him - not ones in which he kowtows to the capricious and petty demands of parents.

Cooperstown, I know him and the situation very well and all I can say is this is an eggshell situation.

Didn't Bob lose the St Henry gig over a parent issue? Hopefully, the administration has his back.

He was out the week for Spring Break that he left and then 3 games once he came back which happened to cover 2 weeks with the rain outs. He is back in now.

True and it is a shame. Coaches should coach, players should play, and parents should be parents.....it ain't AABC anymore or knothole. If the parents want to coach, then get out there-not just at Cooper, but at every school. Parents are ruining high school sports.

Bieger put himself in the position he's in from the little tantrom he threw last in the middle of the game against Villa . He needs to know when and where to throw his tantroms and during a game in the middle of the field is not the place . Right or wrong that is not the place . He made himself look bad ,the school look bad and he made the parents of Cooper look bad . You don't call players out and parents out and exspect no recourse thats not the way society is today . So I hope he makes it through all of this and coach the way he knows how to coach. He definitely needs some work on his social skills.

Didn't that happen last year? Are we still holding that against him (even though he was brought back in the good graces of the administration)? Or is this a new development? Bieger is one heck of a baseball coach.
