  7. As I mentioned in another thread, why is everyone making such a big deal out of Holy Cross? Of their 18 wins, 10 are by run rule, so I ask, are they that good or is their schedule just not very difficult???? 8. Why is everyone making such a big deal out of Holy Cross having 12 wins in a row. Who have they played? Out of those 12 wins, 5 are run rule games against not so great opponents. At least the other 3 Northern Kentucky Schools in the top 25 go outside of northern Kentucky to play games. Mar 22, 11 Boone County home 2 - 14 (L) (5 innings) Mar 28, 11 Simon Kenton away 10 - 0 (W) (5 innings) Mar 29, 11 Scott home 8 - 7 (W) Mar 31, 11 Conner home 6 - 9 (L) Apr 1, 11 Conner away 8 - 4 (W) (9 innings) Apr 5, 11 Covington Catholic home 3 - 8 (L) Apr 6, 11 Bishop Brossart away 16 - 7 (W) Apr 8, 11 Highlands home 11 - 1 (W) (5 innings) Apr 13, 11 Villa Madonna 10 - 0 (W) 9th Region All "A" Classic (5 innings) Apr 14, 11 Bellevue 10 - 0 (W) 9th Region All "A" Classic (5 innings) Apr 14, 11 Newport Central Catholic 8 - 13 (L) 9th Region All "A" Classic Apr 15, 11 Villa Madonna home 15 - 0 (W) (5 innings) Apr 18, 11 Lloyd Memorial home 10 - 0 (W) (5 innings) Apr 21, 11 Newport Central Catholic home 7 - 6 (W) Apr 29, 11 Holmes home 13 - 0 (W) (5 innings) Apr 30, 11 St. Henry away 13 - 2 (W) (5 innings) Apr 30, 11 St. Henry away 12 - 0 (W) May 5, 11 Covington Catholic away 4 - 3 (W) (9 innings) May 6, 11 Boone County away 3 - 2 (W) May 7, 11 Conner away 12 - 3 (W) May 9, 11 Highlands away 12 - 2 (W) (6 innings) May 11, 11 Dixie Heights away 3 - 0 (W)
  9. Why is it that No one is really talking about the game???? Not taking anything away from Cov. Cath, but Beechwood was flat out the better team in this game. Lots of good stuff, like the freshman second baseman that got what I think was the first hit of the game for Beechwood, a double off the left field wall, that seemed to really get the Beechwood bats going and how about the great throw to the plate from Beechwood’s center fielder, and the player who played first base for the injured regular first baseman, and hits a home run, how about the pitcher from Beechwood, seems like he did a pretty good job as well, and lastly what a great game by the Beechwood catcher. Congrats Beechwood on a good win.
  10. Pretty good list, I agree, any of these players have a chance.
  11. Congrats to the Tigers and to Coach Sanders.
  12. The Beechwood Freshman improved their record to 9 and 2 with a run rule win over Campbell County last night. Their only losses were a 2-1 loss in their first game against Ryle, and a loss to Dixie, however they have since revenged that loss to Dixie.
  13. I think that the fact that they are the defending 9th region champions should at least give them a place in the top 10
  14. Here is the original list, Bertke and Sexton are included. I must also ask, what has Shumate done to be included. Fuller is only a Soph. I would also think that Lonkard from Ryle should have a place on this list. But like I said in a previous post. There are some very good baseball players that are Juniors in the 9th region which should make for some quality baseball.
  15. Looks like this years Junior class is pretty loaded. Should make for some great High School Baseball.
  16. The following is from NFHS.ORG talks about the change in testing standards used. I also interperate, that in 2012 all 2 piece bats will be banned. It says that a bat must be a smooth cylinder implement from the top of the cap to the top of the knob. 2010 Baseball Rules Changes Include Bat Standards Adjustment FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Elliot Hopkins INDIANAPOLIS, IN (July 6, 2009) — The clarification of baseball bat specifications was among four rules adjusted by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Baseball Rules Committee at its annual meeting June 7-9 in Indianapolis. The rules changes subsequently were approved by the NFHS Board of Directors. A change to Rule 1-3-2 regarding bat specifications was made in the hope it will clarify bat compliance. The rule, which will be effective January 1, 2012, specifies that the bat should be a “smooth cylinder implement from the top of the cap to the top of the knob.” “The committee was looking to clarify the rule and make the purchase of bats an easier process,” said Elliot Hopkins, NFHS director of educational services and liaison to the Baseball Rules Committee. “We want to make sure that kids and parents know what is permissible.” The change will also require that all non-wood bats meet the Batted Ball Coefficient of Restitution (BBCOR) performance standard, which is the standard used by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Formerly, non-wood bats had to meet the Ball Exit Speed Ratio (BESR) standard. The new rule also states that non-wood bats must be labeled with a rectangular certification mark “a minimum of a half-inch on each side and located on the barrel of the bat in any contrasting color.” The new standard ensures that performances by non-wood bats are more comparable to those of wood bats. It’s also expected to minimize risk, improve play and increase teaching opportunities. “After working with the NCAA and having access to its research, we’ve concluded it’s in our best interest to make this change,” Hopkins said. “BBCOR includes the BESR standard, so we’re actually expanding upon our current standard, which will be more appropriate for our age and skill level.”
  17. I heard that they now live in Ft. Mitchell. Either on Superior or Pleasant Ridge, if they have moved and have residence in Ft. Mitchell that would make him eligible.
  18. Don't totaly count Beechwood out, they have Bertke and Larimore. I would not be supprised to see Colosimo on the mound more in 2010, and Darrick Brilz had some pretty good outings as a Freshman in 2009, plus a couple of others that developed very well this past summer.
  19. The left side of Beechwoods infield is as good as any, with Bertke and Larimore. Not to mention comback player of the year Brad Leeke in Center Field.
  20. I hear that Hunter is not even returning to Bellevue next year.
