Who win the 9th Region and why? I am going with Holy Cross at this point..

I'm going with Boone as they will work this slump out and come out firing, as they have too many good players to continue to play as they are. COME ON TEAM YOU CAN DO IT.

I do think it is wide open this year but today I would go with Holy Cross - They are on a roll and think they have the pitching that can get it done

NCC starting pitching depth in a tourney situation might be the difference.............

Dixie Heights could just as easily win region as they could lose first round of districts. If they aren't on come tourney time they will lose to Lloyd again but If they are on come tourney time nobody will want to play them, ask Bishop, Cov Cath or Ryle.

Dixie is scheduled to play Holy Cross tomorrow at Dixie. Should be a dandy!!!

I see pitching depth a weakness for NCC, as it is for most teams in the 9th region. For NCC, Cain can be lights out when he throws enough stikes but it is iffy after that IMO. Schmidt has the potential to have a big game. Sullivan is not going to get it done against a top level team. Who else do they have?

 

I think pitching (or lack thereof) is a big reason why the region is so wide open this year. There doesn't seem to be a completely dominating pitcher or two in the region and I don't know if there is anyone who has high quality depth in their pitching staff.

I'd take Blake Tiberi ( Holy Cross's #3 ) over Sullivan.

 

Heck, HC's 4 & 5 of N. Jehn and T. Johnson have been lights out lately as well at 4 & 5 in the rotation.

 

Nick Jehn just beat Boone Co at Boone Co in a complete game win last week 3-2.

What are the dates of the 9th region tourney? That can have an impact. If you're a team like Holy Cross you wish for 3 days in a row. If you're Dixie you hope for a lot of rain in between games.

 

IMO you have to look at the teams that have a strong 1 and 2. Boone, Holy Cross, maybe NCC, maybe CCH maybe BW meet that requirement.

I believe tourney is opening day on Monday like usual, 2nd round on wed and finals on Friday. Not 100% sure on that but I believe that is what I heard. No way to tell who will win this thing but I like Ryle and Hc with Conner as a sleeper no one is talking about.

Good point SF99. If he's near 100% come tourney time, he definitely adds a nice 1-2 punch.

 

With no dominating pitcher or staff in the ninth this year, every game will be an adventure in the regional.
