March 10, 201016 yr I was in AZ recently and rented an Altima. First time I have driven a car with the push button ignition. For those of you who haven't had this experience you do not use a key to start the car. You just push a button. You do have a key fob to use for locking/unlocking/trunk but its not for starting the car. I go to the Reds/Indians game and park. Grab my key fob, lock the door, and head into the game. I come out a few hours later to find my car still running. I didn't push the button to turn it off. Out of habit once I grabbed the key chain/fob I guess my mind went into cruise control and didn't think that the car might still be running. Fortunately it was running with a full gas tank.
March 10, 201016 yr Haven't had the push button starter, but have a Maxima where you just have to have the key with you to start it. It's really convenient and pretty cool.

I sold my car about 3 weeks ago, and I'm still reaching for the clutch in my current ride at stops. As for the push button start, the neighbors have an Altima with it. They've had a handfull of issues with it.
March 10, 201016 yr I have the intelligent key on my G35. Its not a push button, but no key is required for anything on the car. It is SOOOOOO convenient.
March 10, 201016 yr Not taking a shot at anyone but hearing that a push button is so convenient makes me wonder what kind of world were living in. Are we really too lazy to insert a key and turn it ?

Clyde, I'm sorry but that story is hilarious! nees, when I got an automatic after driving a 5 speed for several years, I kept stomping on the left side, too. It took me a week or so to stop doing it!
March 10, 201016 yr Author No offense, but that is a little funny lol. Please. No offense taken. My wife agrees with you.

This is really odd. I deal with push-button-ignition Altimas on a daily basis and all of ours shut off if the key is a certain distance away from the car. Is it possible there was a spare key fob in the glove box that maybe kept it running?
March 10, 201016 yr No, but a high-school friend of mine had an old Dodge with a push-button transmission.
March 10, 201016 yr I have a 2009 Altima, which I just bought about two months ago, love the PBI and the car.Have no problem about turing it off,so far.
March 10, 201016 yr I have a VW Passat that has a key you push in to start rather than turn. It is for security so they say. You push in the key to eject and the vehicle engine shuts down.
March 10, 201016 yr I once had a car that I had to roll down an incline and pop the clutch Edited March 10, 201016 yr by malachicrunch

My only comment is: You must be the only guy in America who calls a keychain a key fob, bloke.
