February 18, 201016 yr Glad I'm not the only one that thought Luke's twin was out there tonight... I turned the game on late in the second half, during a timeout. There was the twin in the huddle. I just assumed Harangody was dressed, but not playing. Then I saw the real one standing off to the side. Definitely freaky.
February 18, 201016 yr Louisville would appear to be in pretty good shape, but the Cards' schedule is really tough down the stretch. They absolutely have to win at DePaul on Saturday, which would make them 9-5/18-9. Final four games are Georgetown, @Connecticut, @Marquette, Syracuse. Winning just one would make them 10-8/19-12. Any more than one win in the last four and they are a lock. Add a win in the Big East tournament at it would be hard to keep them at home. 19 regular season wins and I still think they need 2-3 Big East tourney wins to get in.
February 18, 201016 yr 19 regular season wins and I still think they need 2-3 Big East tourney wins to get in. 19 regular season wins would make them 10-8 in conference. I think that would do it, but I could see how you'd think they'd need more than 1 win to get in. You just never know until the bracket comes out.
February 18, 201016 yr I'm thinking 10-8 pretty much locks up a NCAA birth, with the Cuse win. They're going to have a very high RPI. 11 Big East wins is automatic. Or, 10 wins and one tourney win should do the trick. That being said, I hope they win them all. Last Thursday night I really thought the season was over. They can't fall asleep and let Depaul beat them Saturday. They HAVE to win that one. :thumb: They lose to Depaul and the Syracuse win is rendered meaningless IMO.
February 18, 201016 yr Cards are 8-5 in the Big East and 17-9 overall. They head to Depaul for another must win game before the Hoyas roll into Freedom Hall. If Lousville is able to get 10 wins in the Big East, they are a shoe-in for the NCAA, no questions asked.
February 18, 201016 yr After the way the Steelers' season went, and how the Cards' season has gone, I keep looking around wondering where the dagger is going to come from next. Fortunately they dodged it this time. Fantastic game for Samardo.
February 18, 201016 yr This was an awesome game to watch. Both teams were making play after play down the stretch. I'm glad it's over, I've got to get my blood pressure back down so I can go to bed. Props to ND, they fought their butt off. Had ND made their free throws in the last minute, they would of won. They reminded me of UofL in a couple of games this season. UofL kept feeding Samuels and he produced. ND did a good job of stealing the ball from him a few times, but he was a beast. Basically fouled out 4 ND kids. I thought the Cards were cooked when they went down 7 in the 1st OT. As soon as they went down 7 Reggie Delk hit a three and got fouled to cut it back to 3. That was a huge play. Key stat for Cards: 35-40 from the ft line. Samuels- 36pts Swop-12pts 9 boards Sosa- 12pts What the announcers were saying last night. HUGE win for the Cards.
February 18, 201016 yr Louisville fought very hard and the Delk 3 and foul were HUGE. That gave them a chance to get back in it and Samuels was the difference. They knew where ND was weak and exploited it. Exciting game.
February 18, 201016 yr Congrats to the Cards. That was a great game to watch. You have to give the kids from Notre Dame credit, they were short handed, and without their All American, but they battled for 50 minutes. Samuels was simply unstoppable, and was a machine from the free throw line. I think the Cards are sitting pretty at 8-5 in the Big East, but simply can't afford to let up or slip in any of their remaining 5 games. As the announcers asked last night, "Would you want to play Louisville, or any Big East team come tournament time"?, and my answer as a UK fan is NO!!:scared:
February 18, 201016 yr Nice:thumb: 36 for Samuels...is that a career high ? Yes that is a career high for Mardo. :thumb: Another must win Saturday @Depaul.
February 18, 201016 yr After watching last nights game, I see why pitino has gone to mostly zone. They cannot guard at all man to man. Was it just me or was ND just driving around them in the OT's with ease. Maybe it was Pitino's game plan Im not sure, but louisville has no clue about weakside help. ND would pass on the wing cut through and go out the other side. Louisville Defender would chase all the way to the corner, and The ND player would drive to the basket with ease. Either scored or got fouled. Louisville struggles against anyone who can attack their Zone and force them to play man. St. Johns and Seton hall both forced Louisville out of their Zone and got wins.
