These past couple of Super Bowl halftime entertainment have been less than desirable. You can thank Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake for this...

Still doesn't change the fact that the only reason they aren't there is because of the Janet Jackson incident.

CBS Learn the lesson when you have a woman with little singing talent that comes out half dress inlt bad things can happen.

 

She can dance but her singing is not good.

Reading all of the comments about the halftime show I harken back to a quote to that great philosopher Tom Petty. To paraphrase:

 

"It's Rock and Roll. It's not supposed to be any good".

I'm not a WHO fan, but know many of their hit songs. Yes, they are relevent in music history. I would have to say that they didn't do bad considering they had to perform a medley.

 

I dont know of too many 65-70 year olds who can perform at that level.

As a life-long Pearl Jam fan who has seen them get really old in the last 3+ years, I look forward to seeing them at the Super Bowl at some point in the very near future. That does appear to be the trend.

Seriously, watching Jay-Z open the show with that video, I told my wife how I wish he would be the halftime show. And no Beyonce, no Rhianna, no Alicia Keys; basically no girls singing. Just Jay-Z. That would have been a fun show.

I love The Who. One of the greatest rock bands of all time.

 

But this show was just okay. The Who is only Daltry & Townsend now after Entwistle passed away and no Keith Moon (although his immediate replacement after his death years ago, Kenny Jones was excellent). It is just not the same. Daltry can't hit the high notes anymore, but adjusted those notes down and it was pretty good. Not great, but okay. But I have higher standards for The Who.

My guess is that Rob Zombie will be in the near future.:thumb::lol::lol:

For a couple of Geezers who are elderly like me:thumb: "The Who " were fantastic ! I just wished that they could have preformed some of their songs like "Baba O 'Reilly and "Who are You " all the way through . If'n you don't like " The Who " you don't appreciate good Rock and Roll .

I love the WHO, I don't disagree that they were one of the most influential bands of all time. BUT... their time has come. The stage saved the show. I thought they were awful.

 

I will take younger, more energetic and more relevant to today.

 

I want to remember the WHO as the band that changed Rock n Roll and the culture of the time, not those guys!

I think their choices cater to the money behind the NFL. It's the 40-50 year old corporate sponsors or CEO's running businesses that fill the seats to the shows.

The Who did just fine, much better than crap like Justin Timberlake or some of the lame acts of today.
