I love the WHO, I don't disagree that they were one of the most influential bands of all time. BUT... their time has come. The stage saved the show. I thought they were awful.

 

I will take younger, more energetic and more relevant to today.

 

I want to remember the WHO as the band that changed Rock n Roll and the culture of the time, not those guys!

 

I'm grateful they chose not to sing: "Hope I Die Before I get Old." :lol:

 

My Thoughts:

 

1. They got better as they went but are a shell without the other half. To see who they really were watch "Live at Leeds" or "Isle of Wight" Concerts on VH1.

 

2. To the poster who referred to "the guitarist with his shirt unbuttoned," you really named your youthful age there. The most recognizable of the group is him: Pete Townsend is the name you are searching for. :ohbrother:

 

3. I would love to see the Eagles perform but Jim Schue would probably hire a terrorist to blow up the stage in protest.

 

4. I think the reason for these older bands is the demographics of the viewers, the money and you need a pretty well developed and recognizable catalog to play that stint and hold everyone.

I heard that Pete had Rotator Cuff surgery today. He overdid the number of tilt-a-whirl strums! Just not young anymore!

They want to get away from hard rock so next year its the Everly Brothers.

They had some pretty solid hits in their days . . . I could live with them moreso than a lot of the garbage that comes out of my son's iPod.

 

Although . . . I certainly wouldn't mind hearing AC-DC. But then we've just end up having another thread next year about how old and horrible they were.

They weren't awful but not great either. The light show was cool and made even made them better. :lol::lol:

I love The Who. One of the greatest rock bands of all time.

 

But this show was just okay. The Who is only Daltry & Townsend now after Entwistle passed away and no Keith Moon (although his immediate replacement after his death years ago, Kenny Jones was excellent). It is just not the same. Daltry can't hit the high notes anymore, but adjusted those notes down and it was pretty good. Not great, but okay. But I have higher standards for The Who.
