I'm anxious to see both coach's game plan for this match up knowing that their 2nd meeting in the 35th district is the one that counts the most. Will they go all out or hold back some to confuse each other about their plan of attack for the bigger game? I have to believe that there's gonna be a bit of playing the fox so as to not reveal themselves completely. This game should certainly give each coach some sort of measuring stick for their next meeting, but bigger than who wins this one is which coach is more clever with their approach and can begin to build on a plan that can get them a ticket into the 9th Region Tournament. Even with CovCath's big guys I don't see the Colonels having such a huge edge. Holy Cross has some feisty quick ball thieves and ball handlers while the Colonels are still trying to find themselves in their guard play. I see a close battle in both games with the Colonels having a bit of a home court edge in the 35th district game.

Given the number of ankle injuries that CovCath has had this year, I hope not!!!

 

KingLouie had some pretty good observations on CovCath after Tuesdays loss to Scott. It will be interesting to see if CovCath can settle some of those issues before the regular season ends.

 

 

Thanks scout! I hope they do. If they do not I really think the Indians can pull this one out. I am also concerned that the Colonels might be thinking they can just take it easy as the pressure for a 'W' in this one is off now. They need to work things out, so they better play hard from tip to horn.

While I do agree with this somewhat, I think the offense as a whole is trying to find itself - are they going to run and attack more, or run half court deliberate sets, patience or run - we will see. I personally think this team is better when they try and force the tempo a bit. Are they going to run and attack, or run the deliberate half court sets? I also thought the guard play was improving quite a bit until this latest bout with injuries and sickness. I heard on Tuesday night that Evans may only be about 10 days more, so that will certainly help, not for Friday, but for the rematch.

Colonels size down low with Thelen and Wellbrock will be too much for the Indians.

 

I see HC sitting in a zone all night to try and force the CCH guards to beat them. If they do this, I can see it being close. If Thelen and Wellbrock get going, CCH by double digits.

 

Covcath is deeper than HC so I'll go with the following:

Holy Cross- 45

This game is meaningless in terms of seeding. #2 or #3 they still play again when it counts.

 

I think it means much more for Holy Cross though. CCH has beaten them like 14 out of the last 15. I think getting that monkey off their back is big because they know it will be a much tougher task in a few weeks to win at CCH vs tomorrow in their crib.

The Finn is my favorite place to watch a high school basketball game. :thumb: Crowded, loud and well run. The exchanges between the Holy Cross fans and the Crazies are always entertaining. Mr. Eiffert and the rest of the administration couldn't be more hospitable and welcoming. No luxury boxes at this place. It is an old school way to spend a Friday night. You half expect the kids to bust out of the locker rooms in white high top chucks.

I noticed in analyzing CovCath's stat line that they have not made a lot of three pointers this year. Is that because they don't shoot many or they don't have to shoot with Thelen's inside presence? I have not seen CovCath play this year, so that is why I am asking. Did Evans play against Scott? If he is unavailable against HC, then that leaves the Colonels with only one player that has hit at least 10 3's on the year (Riedinger).

 

I have only been involved with HC Basketball for four seasons, fairly new to Northern Kentucky basketball. When was the last time that HC defeated CovCath?

I think HC is going to give Cov Cath some trouble , but I see Cov Cath pulling out a win. Cov Cath 61 HC 50.

It's all in who you have played at home. That is a tough schedule for games at home. I wouldn't get too worried about that.
