Big 35th district battle Friday night in Latonia.

 

Winner likely gets the #2 seed and avoids Holmes in the first round of the district.

This game will mean a lot more if HC loses tonight vs. Beechwood, because if they do beat Beechwood, then they will be playing CCH in the District Tournament reguardless. I think both teams will be pumped up for this one, but I see the Colonels winning by about 5. This may be one of the first times that these two schools don't even pack the gym with both fan bases being way down.

Holy Cross beat Beechwood tonight. On Friday the Colonels play the Indians at the Finn. Regardless of who wins on Friday, the Indians will play the Colonels (in Park Hills) in Round 1 of the 35th District Tournament.

 

As for Friday, the Indians always play the Colonels strong, especially in Latonia. The Colonels are imploding. The Indians are on somewhat of a roll with road victories over Dixie and Beechwood in the last 10 days. I am going to predict the upset (I guess it would still be an upset??) and pick Holy Cross to stop their fairly long losing streak against Cov. Cath.

HC played very well against Beechwood but they both are very small teams. CCH's size will be too much for HC.

I see this being a very slow, low scoring contest and I think in the end, Holy Cross will be worn down by the size of Thelen and the gang at Cov Cath. I will take CC to win this one by about 10.

I won't be at this one but I will obviously be rooting for the Colonels. However, HC has two of my favorite boys so I'll be rooting for both sides.

With Cov Holy Cross beating Beechwood tonight, the upcoming CovCath vs. Holy Cross game is more of a bragging rights game, as both teams will meet again in the 35th, where that game will be much more important, than this Friday night match up.

 

Just a thought but if the up coming snow storm cancels this game, will it have to be made up? Does it really matter who is the number two seed and who is the number three seed?

I am interested to see what the Indians do defensively. They ran a lot of different zones last night to try to minimize Beechwood's guards. How will they try to take Wellbrock and Thelan out of this game?

The Finn is my favorite place to watch a high school basketball game. :thumb: Crowded, loud and well run. The exchanges between the Holy Cross fans and the Crazies are always entertaining. Mr. Eiffert and the rest of the administration couldn't be more hospitable and welcoming. No luxury boxes at this place. It is an old school way to spend a Friday night. You half expect the kids to bust out of the locker rooms in white high top chucks.

Given the number of ankle injuries that CovCath has had this year, I hope not!!!

 

KingLouie had some pretty good observations on CovCath after Tuesdays loss to Scott. It will be interesting to see if CovCath can settle some of those issues before the regular season ends.

I see it differently.

 

I don't feel HC has the height nor the fire-power to compete with the Colonels. While they have been putting up a few more points lately, I don't think they have an answer for Thelan, nor the capability of matching points with the bigger Colonels.
