January 30, 201016 yr Author I've been a huge weather fan since about 5th grade and I tend to keep up with this stuff and likfe to formulate some Sportsfan41 models in which I don't give any exact numbers and have a VERY high percentage for accuracy. But I reall am getting good at reading and comparing models and looking at likely scenarios. BTW the Farmers Almanac had predicted a big one for the Cinci area in late January early Febraury, I'm not one to follow that too often, but if the cold front from the north hadn't pushed the moisture so far south it's very likely the Cinci area could be looking at a foot or more. Well, since the southern part of KY is getting this, then we will have the 8-14 in Feb. Speaking about predictions, about 4 years ago the local weather guy at Fox19 said we would get hit by a big storm just before Christmas that year, and I think he said the amount would be over a foot, but he called it a few months before.
January 30, 201016 yr Looks like about 4-5" in Bardstown. Apparently the trucks have been out all night, but it's been coming down so fast — and still is — that they can't keep up. Main roads are passable but in very rough condition. Side roads are a mess; one of the streets I have to go on to get out to the main road was untouched, and the only way I knew where the road was is because I drive it every day.
January 30, 201016 yr Snowing pretty good right now in Frankfort. Looks like we have about 1.5 in. so far and coming down at a good clip. Getting ready to go check it out.
January 30, 201016 yr The Weather Bloggers were calling for 5-8 in Owensboro, Evansville area, Weather kept saying 1-3 inches, Owensboro got 5 at my house and Evansville got about 8.75!!!
January 30, 201016 yr Just ventured out to Kroger in Frankfort. The roads are in bad shape. Even the main roads are still snow covered. They've been treated, but it's just not doing well right now with the snow still coming down. It is letting up though, and the sun is actually out at the moment.
January 30, 201016 yr About 8 in Halls Gap in Lincoln County. Drove around the country roads last night while it was snowing hard. It was a beautiful drive.
January 30, 201016 yr So right now I'm looking out my window, and I can't even tell where the road is. I'm just happy I don't have to venture out until Monday. Thankful that the electricity has stayed on, December has jaded me.
January 30, 201016 yr Where I'm at in Richmond, we have a general 4-5 inches. However, there are big, foot deep drifts. Just took the dogs out and they loved it. The side road that runs outside my apt. is still not plowed, there are however tracks in it that may prove promising later in the day when I have to go out. Still no idea what the bypass looks like, but last night it was in terrible condition. One question. If EKU is closed saturday (per SnoGo) does that mean the All A is also canceled?
