January 30, 201016 yr Daughter who is living in Murray (MSU Student) claims there is about 3 or 4 inches of snow on the ground. She is loving life, as she is off work tomorrow and has plenty of food in her apt! Her roommate her boyfriend and my daughter fiancee' are at their apt playing cards, cooking and having a great time playing in the snow! Oh to be young again!
January 30, 201016 yr Jim, you're seeing virga (sp?) which is when the snow is falling, it just isn't reaching the ground because the dewpoint is too low. Basically, it's too cold to snow, lol. Here in a little while, the atmosphere should moisten up a bit and allow that snow to fall to the ground. They're calling for 3-5 or 4-6 inches here in Richmond....All A is tonight as well....hmmmmm, could get interesting. My attempts at reverse psychology worked, and the snow gods have been properly antagonized. Coming down hard and fast now.

Richmond has about 2 inches right now and the roads are REALLY, REALLY BAD! It took me 30 minutes to get from my apartment to Taco Bell, which is only about a mile and half away. The bypass in Richmond is in the worst condition I've ever seen it in and the side roads are worse.

That was then and this is now, they've said Dry Ridge area could see 1-2 inches and that's well north of Frankfort, I'd think that would be them in an area of atleast 2-3 inches. However the way the system is tracking and like you'd mentioned earlier with moisture, that area may not see much til late night early morning.

Just read Chris Bailey's site: kyweathercenter.com and you are right. He is showing more snow further north, but yes, it's going to take longer to get there. The radar showed snow in Richmond from 1 PM to 10 PM and the snow really didn't come down until then, at 10. CB is now calling for 6-10 inches for the Richmond area. I've been a huge weather fan since about 5th grade and I tend to keep up with this stuff and likfe to formulate some Sportsfan41 models in which I don't give any exact numbers and have a VERY high percentage for accuracy. But I reall am getting good at reading and comparing models and looking at likely scenarios. BTW the Farmers Almanac had predicted a big one for the Cinci area in late January early Febraury, I'm not one to follow that too often, but if the cold front from the north hadn't pushed the moisture so far south it's very likely the Cinci area could be looking at a foot or more.

January 30, 201016 yr What about Lexington? We have about an inch and a half now. The roads here (Tates Creek) are awful. It's coming down pretty hard and doesn't appear to be letting up.
