December 9, 201114 yr I think grappa is distilled from fermented fruit juice and moonshine from fermented grain. Wasn't saying it was made the same, just had the same taste in a way. Grappa is made with the leftover seeds, stems and skins of grapes.
December 9, 201114 yr I'll probably lose some points from my man-card, but I like Southern Comfort. I sometimes drink it on the rocks, but usually with Sprite or 7-Up.
December 9, 201114 yr I've become fond of Malibu Black. I have to take my skirt off when I am finished, but it's delicious. or Woodford Reserve/Jim Beam mixed with Coke.
December 9, 201114 yr Favorite Beer - Bell's Brewery Two Hearted IPA Favorite Bourbon - 1792 (Jefferson Reserve)
December 16, 201114 yr Last night, I had the privilege of eating dinner with Mr. Jimmy Russell. He is the Master Distiller at Wild Turkey. I learned a lot about bourbon in the 2-3 hours I spent with him last night. We also tasted some very nice bourbons. We had Russell's Reserve, Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit, Wild Turkey Traditions (a 14 yr old/114 proof bourbon) and Wild Turkey American Honey. They were all fantastic, but the WT Kentucky Spirit was probably my favorite. The one thing that I learned last night that I will always remember is this. Mr. Russell said, "If you make a face after taking a sip of your bourbon, then it's too strong. If you'll just add 3-4 ice cubes to the bourbon, it actually opens the bourbon up and tastes much better." I always thought that if you made a face after sipping your bourbon you were just a sissy. Guess I was wrong! If you ever have the chance to meet Mr. Russell, I would highly suggest it. He's 85 years old and is sharp as a tack!

Did he say you should always add ice or did he say you should add ice IF it's too strong?
December 16, 201114 yr Did he say you should always add ice or did he say you should add ice IF it's too strong? He said add ice only if YOU think it's too strong. He only added ice to his WT Traditions and actually poured his American Honey over his dessert!
December 16, 201114 yr I always thought that if you made a face after sipping your bourbon you were just a sissy. Guess I was wrong! However, if you make a face after taking a sip of beer, you ARE a sissy, no exceptions.....
