February 16, 201214 yr My buddy and I went to a tasting and he really liked it. He told the owner he wanted a six pack and they had one in the back. He tossed it into his cart and once he went to purchase they rang it up and I believe it was $25 for a six pack. He didn't buy it. Yeah, their Cafe prices are a little more reasonable. I think for a pint I paid $5 for the Oracle.
October 1, 201411 yr Any scotch drinkers around? I've had very little of it, and even less that was of any decent quality. Just had two fairly expensive bottles gifted to me within the course of a week. Looking for some pointers on enjoying them correctly :lol2:

I'm looking forward to when I crack open that nice bottle of Isle Of Jura that Hearsay was kind enough to gift for my birthday. (I'm still saving one roll of goetta as well, for what it's worth.)

Blended Scotches like Chivas or Pinch I like on the rocks. Single malts I like neat, in a snifter. Goes well with cheese. I prefer brie or gouda and a rye cracker or those little square rye loafs as a pre-dinner drink. Dark chocolat compliments scotch nicely, if you're having one after dinner. My favorite thing to pair it with for dinner is actually BBQ. Slightly sweet on the BBQ for the best compliment. Of course you can always go with a snifter and a big fat cigar. That works well also. October 1, 201411 yr Bell's Hopslam = best beer EVER! :thumb: Love me some Hopslam, and also Bell's Oracle. Another beer that I am very partial to is New Holland's - Imperial Hatter. It's a double IPA. Madhatter is very good, Imperial Hatter is outstanding.

When it comes to single malts it's a plethora of flavors. There's the sweet Glenmorangie, the malty smooth Glenlivet, the oakey Glenfiddich, and the smokey (my favorite) Laphroaig.

It was fairly smooth, just didn't care for the overall flavor.
October 1, 201411 yr I generally drink Basil Hayden. Great bourbon and resonable in price. Typically with just some ice and maybe a splash of water. For special occasions I pull out my Pappy Van Winkle 23 year old that I keep on reserve. That stuff is like drinking jet fuel though. For beer I either drink Bass, Kronenbourg, or Stella. American wise I keep a case of Selects in the fridge at all times for everyone. Interesting this thread should arise again. It has been 5 years and it is noteworthy if your taste buds have changed. I appreciate Basil and bourbon in general more since this time. Basil is still my go to, but only with ice which is how I drink all of my bourbons. Unbeknownst to most on here, I recently moved from Kentucky up north. Bourbon is viewed as a trendy type drink. When I tell people where I am from it is the first thing they ask about. 2nd is if I am married to my sister. In the fridge now I always keep a Michelob Ultra inventory because it is what triathletes do. I now have an appreciation for stouts and there is one called Nitro something that I get up here that I could drink all day long. I love a good stout.

October 1, 201411 yr I used to drink Budweiser and (just about any) Bourbon...hated ALL "Light" beers and that Black Label Crap from Tennessee. Mixed drink favorite was Tom Collins
