I agree, look at some former NKY players that went to UK and got lost in the mix and it makes sense. I like Kelly as a coach and I think he will utilize AC very well, look at what he did with Guidugli.

 

This is great news !!! Fort Thomas should be very proud with this week's recent USA Today ranking and now AC getting an offer from ND. Having 4 kids named to All State and one Honorable mention as well as a coach getting co-coach of the year. The accolades just keep pouring in.

How do you figure -Uk is just as good as ND right now if not better. Now if you are talking tradition then ND wins.

 

On the field, I agree that UK has been better than ND the past few years. BUT, ND has had some top notch recruiting classes and have talent, ... Weis just couldn't seem to get it out of them, especially on the defensive side of the ball. IMHO, Kelly will have immediate success at ND. If they are still committed to a fairly weak schedule, I think he will get more out of all that talent and thereby attract more of it.

Sorry, not to stray away from the threads focus, but aren't you a Cov Cath fan? If that's the case then I am assuming you advocate most of what Cov Cath is about, which coincidentally happens to be spending an outrageous amount of money on a high school education that is supposed to be "better" than what public schools offer. I just don't see how you can put down spending money on an education that will actually apply to your future considering the above. Regardless, congrats to AC and the opportunity Notre Dame offers on and off the football field can't be beat.

I personally would rather have a degree from ND than UK...I have a feeling BK is going to turn around the Irish. Charlie Weis wasn't a college coach. JMO

 

I agree that Charlie Weis wasn't a college coach, however, I'm not entirely positive that Kelly is going to turn the Irish around. I absolutely hope he does, (for being German, I'm about as big an Irish fan as they come) but I don't know that we're necessarily going to see that happen.

 

Anyway, can anyone confirm whether or not AC is hearing from Notre Dame? Neither Scout.com or Rivals are reporting any interest from Notre Dame as of yet, and I haven't seen/heard of anything elsewhere.

 

From what I've seen thus far, I think the best offers for someone who's football minded with their career would be Oregon or Stanford, and I'd take Oregon from those two. Rivals is also reporting some interest from Florida, which would top either of those were there to be an offer made, in my opinion. Notre Dame being Notre Dame, I'd take that offer any day if it were given.

 

However, if Austin wants to look to business potential, there's nothing like the Harvard offer. Notre Dame or Stanford would be almost equally as beneficial to life after college. They're all great educational institutes, with even greater alumni networks.

 

Overall, if Notre Dame offers, I think Austin should answer the call. It's his best all around choice to keep options open for success in business and football.

You absolutely did stray from the focus, but just to clarify, the purpose of diocesan Catholic schools is to provide a "better Catholic education". That's something that no public school can offer.

 

I think ColonelCrazy was trying to state that he thinks the education at Notre Dame is not as beneficial to one's career as most of the people in this thread seem to be implying - or at least no more beneficial than an education from any of the other schools he's been offered scholarships to. I might also add that it's a statement that I don't completely agree with. However, rather than trying to take shots at Cov Cath, I might suggest that you take shots at the point that ColonelCrazy was actually making.

I don't think I have ever heard some one equating the education recieved at ND with that recieved at UK. As far as a campus "feel" or as I stated it, a "tradition", I have been on both campuses, and there is absolutely no comparison.

I sent a text to one of the HHS coaches this morning when this thread was posted asking if this were true and they replied with "I don't know". It may or may not be true but the coaching staff at HHS is unaware of it as of this morning anyway.

As a UK fan I'm a bit selfish. I would love to see the best stay at home. Help our home university get over the hump. Realistically we loose alot of good in state recruits because of TRADITION, and coaching. If we could keep all of the great in state players, Rich Brooks would look like Urban Meyer!It's a big decision for this kid, and I will always be a fan for this KY boy no matter where he chooses to attend school.
