I'm sorry, but that is funny. Does anyone look at film on these kids before the team is selected or is it just based on size!!!!!!!

The head coach of a school nominates players off his team and then the committee picks the players from the list. I think some film is used when it gets down to the final selections but I would think some players would be easy picks.I would think 5-6 WR would be picked. If 1 chose not to play the the next 1 on the list would be contacted.

If a player is not nominated it is his coach who chose to not nominate. If a player is nominated but not chosen it is the committee who chose not to put him on the team.

Kozerski is the coach and he coaches NKY Holy Cross, a Catholic High School in Covington, KY. I am also hearing there are other kids from NKY playing in this game, some from Highlands specifically, so maybe there is two games? One for the Eastern half of the two states and then the annual Big Game. :thumb: 20n10

Here is last years roster - seems like there was representation from Northern, Central and Eastern Kentucky.. So whats the burn about someone from Holy Cross coaching? It's all for the kids so it can't be all bad? What am I missing?:idunno:

The BIG GAME kinda fell apart and someone picked it up and called it what East West game or whatever. It would appear looking on a map that if you divide KY into east, central and west that schools in the covington area would fall into the eastern part of the state. This game has hit the ground running and has gotten bigger and better each year. Maybe you should come watch.:thumb:

 

Not according to the Bowl website. I think this Bowl is morphing into the State of Ky vs the State of Tenn all star game. Take a look at it. Now the reality may be different than what the web site states. I guess we'll know the answer to that question when the rosters are released if the players on the team come only from eastern Ky.

I can remember two from Highlands playing last year, I do believe it is a KY/tn all star game. But I'm all for a NKY and SEKY game, that's just another football game we get to enjoy!!!

 

I went last year and plan on going this year, it's a good atmosphere and the kids play hard because they are playing against a state rival.

We get it, you don't give any credibility to this game, that is fine, so be it. But, the OTHER KY/TN game was done away with because TN wanted it in January, and Kentucky wanted it in June. So, someone came up with the Border Bowl, and it has become a state wide game. I was there last year and there were players representing EKY, NEKY, NKY, SEKY, SKY, Louisville, and Lexington. I was told my several TN fans that they had players from all over TN.

 

And, by the way, it was a great game to watch, and several player received scholarship offers from playing in this game.

The Border Bowl held in January is attempting to fill the void. Did you or your kid not get asked to play in it or something, and as a result you are attempting to diminish it's significance? This is the ONLY REAL KY vs TN all star football game is one that is actually played. The other was done away with and unless they come back with it again, this is it. Picking up more kids from various regions each year.

 

The game includes players from KY playing players from TN. I haven't seen any limitations on what areas of the state players can be nominated from, and it is growing.

 

I guess whomever killed the original didn't realize that the rivalry just wouldn't die.

But NCAA rules prohibit college coaches from watching all-star games and practices such as this. I guess NAIA coaches could go and perhaps that is beneficial to the players that participate.
