I think it is naive to believe that Notre Dame didn't reach out to any of these potential coaching candidates prior to firing Weis, if even just through back channels. I don't care how many times, Stoops, Kelly, etc. deny talking to Notre Dame. Maybe it wasn't directly with the coach, but I'm sure Notre Dame would not fire Weis and then wait a week before talking to anyone.

 

Didn't Kelly lie to CMU about his interest in the UC job. Why would this time be any different.

If he hires a good D coordinator and recruits well plus he still has some good athletes coming back with Floyd and Rudolph then he can do just as well, especially with the schedule they have JMO though

Can you explain why not? Weis had no problem bringing in top 10 recruiting classes even though he didn't have a good football team to sell them on. Brian Kelly is going to be able to get even better players at Notre Dame than he has at UC. Brian Kelly has been successful where ever he has went, which is something Notre Dame has not had in either of the last three coaches. Two of the last three coaches had no head coaching experience at all.

 

I think people are really not being truthful with theirselves if they don't think he will do a good job at Notre Dame. Since the majority of this board is Ohio State fans, or fans of some SEC school. Most people just don't want Notre Dame to be good again, so you all try to convince your selfs that it wont happen. However there honestly is no reason not to believe that he won't do even better than what he has done at UC. The only difference is, if he goes undefeated at Notre Dame he won't have to worry about not getting to play for the title. He will be getting better players, have better facilities, and well Notre Dame plays half of a big ten schedule. Which means there schedule is not that hard as compared to others. So what reason is there for him not being successful at Notre Dame?

That would be pretty cool, however just by going what GT has said. There is not much of a chance of it happening. Which is a good thing, because he probably is not ready. So if UC wants to keep things from going back down, then they should probably not hire him at this point.
