South Bend Tribune Says Its Official

A lone ship in the sea of immaturity:

Andre Revels said before the banquet that he could not blame Kelly for leaving.

“I wouldn’t have one negative thing to say about him (Kelly). I feel like he’s a great guy, he had to do what’s best for his family.”

All of them had nice things to say before the banquet. Big deal. It was after the banquet when he sent them out the front door to the media while he slinked down a kitchen stairwell with a police escort that got the emotional reactions...

UC fans and players are coming off as the upset jilted lover in a relationship where the girl thought it was forever and the dude knew it was a short-term fling.

More like UC fans come off as Elin and BK comes (pun intended) off like Tiger.

Just learned today the first time BK met with Swarbrick in person was almost a YEAR ago. At some point the politician from New England will have to face all of the skeletons in his closet. As long as he wins, and wins BIG at ND it shouldn't be a problem for a while...

I think most fans expected him to leave before 2012. I know I did. I just thought him saying his players would know first would be the outcome. If he tells them before the banquet I have absolutely no problem w/ anything he did. I for one could care less that he told them he wasn't leaving or that he talked to ND before the Pitt game. That's just how it works. His mistake was having all of the players in one place and not telling them until after the news was out everywhere in the country.

I don't think most of the true UC fans are upset with him leaving. We all kind of expected him leaving to a bigger and better place. However, the problem I have is he had all the players in a room BEFORE the banquet and he decided NOT to tell them then. He also told them when the banquet was ending and then threw them out to the media as he went through the back door. That IMO is pretty chicken. Him going to ND was announced by the ND people around 6:30 or so. Those kids knew via twitter and text way before he even announced. They should have not learned it this way. He should have been a man and told them when he had all of those players together and BEFORE the banquet.

Everyone can say we all knew before Thursday he was leaving but until you hear it from the horses mouth (we never did until the press conference on Friday) you just do not.

Your analogy to Elin is far-fetched unless Elin knew Tiger "prowled" before she got too far down the road with him.

UC fans knew this day was coming. To complain about the details is disingenuous.

I'm not defending any of his methods. Despite what he said at the presser I bet he would change a few things (not as many as UC fans think though) about his departure.

One of the many fingers being pointed at BK should also be pointed at the UC folks who threw the players out to the media. Terrible decision on their part. Asking for trouble and embarrassing comments that make the university look petty.

I agree. UC fans need to be more upset with the fact, that they can't keep a decent coach. Instead of being mad at BK, how about being upset at the University for never figuring out a way to keep the job from being a stepping stone position..

It's much easier to blame the guy that won't be around. Totally agree with both of you, figure out how to keep a good coach at UC.
