If this is the way all of the games are I won't get anything done today or tomorrow.

Not sure what you mean. (I didn't get to see the game)

I didn't see it, but when you lead by 16 points that late in the game and the momentum is on your side, you need to finish the job. If you recall, Lone Oak also led Lexington Catholic by 3 touchdowns early in the 4th, and had to win in over time 52-49. Keep the pedal to the metal. And what do you think is worse? Losing 49-7 to LC 2 years ago, in a game where you never stood a chance anyway? Or leading by 16 in the second half and losing it in double OT?

I just finished folding the clothes Mr. Network, What Did I Miss?????????

:D

That's what I thought you meant. Couldn't agree more.

If you're up 16, go for 40. No mercy. Keep going for the jugular.

If you get a running clock, THEN think about taking the foot off the gas.

And if you lose going "all out", then at least you will know that you left everything on the field.

In regard to the supposed delay of game call, isn't the official time kept on the field, and not on the public clock?

Great game, the way a State Championship game should be, in my opinion.

Especially in the finals, because you aren't going to run it up on Boyle...I too thought of the Lex Cath game when I saw this game tightening!

My heart just sank for the Flash and I wanted to :puke:

Wow...

Lost the audio at the 5 min. mark, but having figured it was over, didn't try to get it back.

Sounds like I missed a few things...

Unbelievable that Lone Oak went away from their offense in the 4th qtr. Still thought the missed 2 pt. conversion and subsequent stop by the Flash's D was gonna save their bacon. But...you give a good team (and in the Finals, they are ALL good teams) a chance and you never know what will happen.

This is the most bitter kind of loss for Lone Oak. They'll be talking about this game in that community for many, MANY years. As a Prestonsburg fan, I can relate (from '93) - hate it for you guys.

Congrats to Boyle and Coach French!

Hate that a blown call affected the game.

Just from what I heard on the air, this appeared to be a game of 2 teams who each thought they had it won. Boyle, from just by showing up, and Lone Oak, when they were ahead by 16. Boyle's lessons from this game, 1, you don't win just by showing up, and 2. you don't give up, regardless of the score. For Lone Oak, you don't have it won, until the final second ticks off the clock. A redefinition of heartbreak for Lone Oak, and perhaps, redefining "heart" for Boyle County. Incredible game, from 2 outstanding teams. A bit cliche, but, it's too bad that one team had to lose.

Yes.

Congrats to Boyle County!!!!!! And another BIG congrats to Coach French on getting your first title!!!!!!!!

I thought they got the field goal attempt off in time. It was definitely close. But really, when you have a 16 point lead in the 4th Quarter and the other team needs three scores to tie it, it really shouldn't come to that. Things like giving up a blocked punt and then a terrible shank on another one allowed Boyle to tie the game. A delay of game would just have been the thing that saved them from themselves. You just can't give a team like Boyle County the ball inside your own 35.

I also thought Lone Oak should have gone for two in the first OT. Your offense is what got you here and what you're known for. Put the ball in their hands and let them win it right there. Instead, you lose with your D on the field.

In HS, they do not normally have a play clock. The officials keep it on the field. Therefore. regardless of what the playclock said, unless we could see what the official has on the field, we can't say it should have been a delay of game. If the official says they got the play off in time, then that is it.

I feel horrible for Lone Oak. To have an elusive state title in your grasp only to see it slip away. When it went to OT, I believed that Boyle Co would win it. They had all the momentum from the way the game ended.

Congrats to Boyle and Coach French!

What call would that be? The official play clock is kept on the field in HS, not on the playclock, which most schools don't have anyway. The play clock on the field is just an indicator, not the final say.
